Help to highlight the VCSE experience of commissioning - and in particular the experience of fitting VCSE activity into social value questions and frameworks.

West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership became the first ‘Keep it Local’ Integrated Care System in the country. Through the six "Keep it Local" principles, the ICS is prioritising local partnerships and investment to support our health and care work in collaboration with the VCSE sector, whilst contributing more broadly to local social and economic development. The six principles are:

  1. Think about the whole system not individual service silo
  2. Co-ordinate services at a neighbourhood level
  3. Increase local spend to invest in the local economy
  4. Focus on prevention now to save costs tomorrow
  5. Commit to our community and proactively support local organisations
  6. Commission services simply and collaboratively so they are local by default

As part of the development of the Keep it Local approach, the VCSE Alliance in Bradford are working with local infrastructure organisations to find out more about the VCSE experience of contracting with the the health system. Insights will be discussed with the ICB asap!

We encourage you to share your views if you're a VCSE organisation that:

  • Is commissioned by the health system or
  • Either could or have tried to contract with the health system
