Part time (between 4 and 30 hours per week), to be discussed with TYA management, based on allocated project, experience and organisational need.

TYA Level 2 (£28,947), paid at £17.62/hour

Youth Worker

The Youth Association is one of the UK’s longest-established and most innovative youth work charities. With a mission to Grow Yorkshire’s future, the organisation supports young people to build confidence, develop their aspirations, improve their wellbeing and achieve their potential.

The Youth Association is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Youth Worker to join its team and support the delivery of youth work projects across South and West Yorkshire.

About the Role

The Youth Worker will work directly with young people across a range of settings, including schools, community venues and street-based youth work. They will deliver engaging and inclusive sessions, support young people’s personal and social development, and encourage their voice and participation.

The role will also involve:

  • Planning, leading and evaluating youth work sessions.
  • Working independently and alongside Youth Support Workers and volunteers.
  • Developing activities and resources that respond to young people’s needs and interests.
  • Building positive relationships with young people, colleagues and partner organisations.
  • Maintaining appropriate records and contributing to project monitoring and evaluation.
  • Following safeguarding procedures and maintaining a safe environment for young people.
  • Contributing to project planning and occasionally leading small projects or campaigns.
  • Attending team meetings, supervision and training, and undertaking ongoing professional development.

About the Candidate

The Youth Association is looking for someone with front-line youth work experience who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them reach their potential.

Applicants should have:

  • A JNC-recognised Level 3 Youth Work qualification or above.
  • Experience of delivering youth work with young people.
  • The ability to plan and deliver engaging, inclusive sessions.
  • Good communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of young people.
  • The flexibility to work some evenings and weekends, depending on project requirements.
