Make Every Contact Count for Mental Health: 1 Day Course

If you speak to the public as part of your role, as a volunteer or staff member, this brilliant training will help you to have positive, supportive conversations about mental health.

This is a great option for your staff and volunteer training/induction and provides strong evidence of your team’s knowledge and skills for funding bids.

What to expect

The course is a full day from 9am to 4pm at West Wakefield Methodist Church, with plenty of refreshments and lunch provided.

The training covers 3 core learning modules, and you’ll come away able to:

  • Understand the factors that influence community health and wellbeing
  • Be ready to engage residents in short conversations about these issues
  • Use a range of skills that help to support people to understand distressing feelings and experiences
  • Be able to find the right service and information to signpost for further support

Successful participants will receive an e-certificate for this course.

About the Trainer

This course is run by Rachel Hale, Lead Mental Health Community Builder from Nova Wakefield District, who has completed the Trainer programme and is experienced at delivering this training to front-line colleagues.

Who is it for?

The course is open to anyone working at a VCSE organisation (volunteers and staff from charities, community groups and social enterprises) or statutory organisation.

Still not sure if it’s for you? An attendee at a previous course told us that “I'm not a practitioner, but still feel I'm on the front line, as I'm our first point of contact on the phone and sometimes in our reception. I took away some great info and reminders of how we need to come across to people seeking help here."

Tickets at £86.50 per person.

Want to feel comfortable talking to people about their physical health too? Join our morning workshop on Thursday 20 March.

If you have any questions or need support to book a ticket, please get in touch with our team at info@nova-wd.org.uk or 01924 367418. We can arrange an invoice if needed.
