Job Opportunity | Support local VCSE organisations to thrive!

We’re expanding our team here at Nova to help us deliver some exciting new projects and enhance our core infrastructure support!

The Nova Adviser - Community and Enterprise Development will play a key role in ensuring the Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector in Wakefield District has the influence, resources and support needed to thrive. So, what does this role involve? You’ll be responsible for a variety of duties, including:

  • Working with a wide variety of Nova members to help them be more enterprising, resilient and adaptable, such as supporting with crisis management and good governance.
  • Supporting the start-up of new organisations, including advice on appropriate legal structures for charities and social enterprises.
  • Delivering training that supports our fantastic members to learn and develop.
  • Supporting the development of tenders and bids for contract and grant opportunities.
  • Engaging in partnerships with public, private and VCSE sector agencies.
  • Supporting a resident led community partnership including project development work.

What are we looking for in our new Nova Adviser?

  • Experience of working with or within the VCSE sector.
  • Experience of working within complex partnerships, comprising of organisations across different sectors and which deliver a wide variety of services.
  • Experience of organisational development and of bidding for grants and/or contracts.
  • Knowledge of using an asset based community development way of working with communities.
  • Detailed knowledge of procurement and tendering processes and different sources of funding opportunities.
  • Knowledge of good practice in management, volunteer management and governance.
  • Able to maintain good working relationships and relate well to a wide range of people and agencies.
  • Able to deal effectively with competing interests and challenging situations.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
