Youth Support Worker

The Youth Worker will play a key role in supporting the delivery of youth work projects across various settings, including street outreach, schools, and community spaces throughout South and West Yorkshire. Working closely with Lead Youth Workers and other team members, the post holder will assist in facilitating youth work sessions, contribute to session planning, and help with evaluating the success of each project.

The ideal candidate will have some experience in front-line youth work, though the main focus will be on delivering support to young people through both formal and informal programmes. They will be working towards a JNC-recognised youth work qualification at Level 3 (or above) alongside their role.

The role will involve working unsociable hours, including evenings and weekends, as part of the outreach activities required to engage with young people. The Youth Worker will support the involvement of young people in decision-making processes, empowering them to take an active role in shaping the projects and services that affect them. This is a key element of the role, as the post holder will work to build positive relationships and foster leadership among the young people they support.

Collaboration is essential, and the Youth Worker will work with partner agencies and professionals to create a cohesive, team-oriented environment. They will also contribute to the monitoring and reporting of project outcomes, providing updates for funding bodies and stakeholders. Regular supervision sessions will ensure that the Youth Worker receives the guidance and support they need to stay motivated and continue developing their skills.

This is an opportunity for someone passionate about youth work to make a real difference in the lives of young people, while growing both personally and professionally in the field. The role may involve additional duties as the needs of the organisation evolve.

Experience

  • Some experience of working with young people
  • Capacity to pursue a Level 3 JNC-recognised youth work qualification
