Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one to one support and advocacy, including help with housing, benefits and hardship or crisis funds, and facilitate group support and training sessions.
  • Deliver evidence-based sexual health information and health promotion activity, and work to challenge and reduce stigma around HIV, STIs, gender identity and unplanned pregnancy.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with external organisations, and represent BHA at local, regional and national events and forums.

About You

You will have:

  • Experience of providing information, advice and support to individuals and groups
  • Experience of developing, delivering and facilitating group work and/or training
  • Experience of supporting vulnerable adults affected by ill health, long-term illness or health inequalities
  • Experience of working with other agencies to provide support and advocacy on behalf of people from diverse backgrounds
  • Knowledge and understanding of health promotion techniques, and of conditions that disproportionately affect ethnic minoritised and marginalised groups, including HIV
  • An understanding of the barriers people face in accessing appropriate and timely services, and of the importance of maintaining confidentiality
  • The ability to keep accurate, concise and up-to-date records
  • The ability to empathise with individuals and communities and provide sensitive, culturally appropriate support, information and advice
  • The ability to respond quickly and appropriately to safeguarding concerns
  • A full UK driving licence is preferred but not essential.
