VCSE Sector Annual Conference – Serious Violence Strategy Co-Production

The Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracy Brabin, and Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, Alison Lowe OBE, warmly invite you to the fifth annual VCSE Sector Conference to celebrate the sector’s achievements and collaborative efforts over the past 12 months.

This year’s conference will focus on the co-production of West Yorkshire’s Serious Violence Strategy, with a particular emphasis on tackling Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG)— a key Mayoral pledge and strategic priority.

Broader themes covered by the strategy will include: Violence and serious violence including specific crime types where there is the use of physical force or power, threatened or actual, against oneself, another person, or against a group or community. The specific crime types for West Yorkshire include homicide, knife crime, violence against the person, personal robbery, gun crime, violence against women and girls, organised crime (including county lines), sexual exploitation and domestic abuse.

We want to bring together voices from across the region - communities, VCSE organisations and other services including policing, local authorities, health and education sectors to build a Strategy that reflects shared priorities and lived experiences.

Why attend?

  • Shape and discuss the strategy: Share your insights on the priorities and early actions identified at our first co-production event.
  • Showcase your work: Highlight your organisation’s efforts to address VAWG across West Yorkshire.
  • Connect and collaborate: Network with partners from the police, local authorities, health, education, and the wider VCSE sector.

You’ll hear from the Deputy Mayor and key voices from across the region, including those with lived experience of serious violence.

If you would like to showcase your work at the event, please let us know - we’d love to feature your contribution.

To secure your place, please email consultation.pc@westyorks-ca.gov.uk by Monday 17 November .

We look forward toseeing you there and working together to build a Safe, Just, Inclusive West Yorkshire.
