Introduction to impact measurement
This online workshop is for charities who want to effectively evaluate and measure their impact, but struggle with getting the right data. This introductory workshop is particularly geared towards small and medium-sized charities.
The workshop will:
- Start with discussing why charities should measure their impact, followed by a brief summary of good impact practice.
- You'll then focus the majority of the time on how to design your impact measurement and data collection in such a way that it will help you understand how your programme or service is working and how you can make it better.
- You will draw on NPC’s five types of data framework, which are fundamental for monitoring and evaluating services or programmes. The five types of data progress from routine data that you should always be collecting (user, engagement and feedback data), through to data that you will only collect occasionally (outcomes and impact data). We will discuss the importance of each type of data, the type of questions to ask, as well as possible appropriate measures to obtain the different types of data.
- The workshop will end with some practical tips on how to keep your data collection proportionate, and some tools and tech that can help boost your efficiency.
