Information about

Heads & Hearts Model of Reflective Practice Training

The West Yorkshire Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub are pleased to be able to support the growth of Reflective Practice Group Training. This training is for staff who are within the Psychological Professions and working across health and social across the region. It is a unique opportunity to develop your existing practice and to align this with an evidence-based model.

This 2-day training in reflective practice group facilitation with one year of supervised practice leads to accreditation in the Heads and Hearts Model. A certificate of accreditation will be awarded on satisfactory completion of the five requirements listed below.

Day One will discuss the origins of reflective practice and present the Heads and Hearts Model in full and have the opportunity to try out the model.

Day Two will focus on the role of the facilitator and group dynamics – the how rather than the what. This will be an opportunity to talk about experiences in groups, which can be powerful in positive and negative ways, and how to negotiate these as a facilitator. In the afternoon colleagues will have the opportunity to put the model into practice a second time.

A certificate of accreditation will be available on satisfactory completion of the following

  • attendance of 2 training days in full
  • facilitation of a minimum of a run of 6 reflective practice group sessions
  • evaluation of the run of 6 groups using tools provided on the training days & submission of data
  • a minimum of 6 hour sin a peer support group set up on the training days, online
  • observation of a group (directly or via Teams) & feedback from member of the training team
