This focused pilot will allow five VCSE sector organisations, considered as ‘Tier 2 or 3’ on Wakefield District's Third Sector Framework, to access funding to develop over a 2 year period.

We have heard from many of our smaller VCSE sector partners that they are unable to deliver long term interventions due to a lack of security, short term and project orientated funding. Many of the funding pots that they have access to do not allow them to build their own infrastructure, make longer term plans and develop more sustainable practises.

This funding will allow organisations to develop the structures and practices that allow them to access larger and more long-term funding. Support will focus on areas such as evidencing outcomes, alignment to long term plan ambitions and supporting organisations to become an integrated part of the new community mental health offer.

We hope the learning from this pilot project will be wide reaching and will support the Wakefield Mental Health Alliance in working with VCSE sector partners in a more sustainable way, as well as supporting VCSE sector partners to identify key actions that they can take to improve sustainability and become contract ready.

What will successful applicants get?

  • Grant funding of £25,000 or  50,000 over 2 years.
  • A package of tailored support from Nova and the Mental Health Alliance.

Are you eligible to apply?

  • You must be a voluntary, community and social enterprise organisation, classed as ‘Tier 2 or 3’ on the Third Sector Framework, working with individuals in the community to      support their mental health
  • Successful applicants must be an approved member of the Third Sector Framework, but don't worry if you're not a member, there's still time to apply! See the details on applying below.

Applying to join the Third Sector Framework

This is a great funding opportunity for smaller VCSE organisations, and we wouldn't want you to miss out because you're not a Third Sector Framework member! You can submit your membership application alongside your funding application, although please get your membership application in as soon as possible. Information about the Framework is available on the Nova website here.

You can download the Membership Application Form here (Word) - if your organisation's annual income is under £25,000, there's a shortened version that's just 4 pages long.

Not sure why you need to apply or want help with your application? We'd recommend that if you're not a Framework member, you should come along to our onboarding session tomorrow (Wednesday 4 May) from 12pm - 12.30pm on Zoom.
