Round 18 of Live Well Wakefield Small Grants is here to fund your nature-based projects that can help improve mental and physical health.

Good news! We've just opened Live Well Wakefield Small Grants for the first round of 2026.

For some background: Live Well Wakefield is a social prescribing service that empowers people to access activities and services in their community that can help them feel happier and healthier. The Small Grants Fund supports this work by regularly funding VCSE organisations to create additional capacity in your existing services and respond to gaps in provision that social prescribers have identified.

For this round of funding, grants are available to fund nature-based projects that can help improve mental and physical health. The team at Live Well Wakefield are seeing local demand for this and will be supporting people to engage with activities through ‘green social prescribing’.

What are we funding?

Grants are available for Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations working in Wakefield District to deliver outdoor activities for adults in green and/or blue spaces.

  • Green activities: could include walking groups, community gardening, cultural activities which take place outdoors
  • Blue activities: could include open water swimming, paddle sports, fishing

We're looking for projects that cover areas where there is increased need, either by delivering in the area or doing outreach in the area. Based on intelligence from Live Well Wakefield and public health, these are: Wrenthorpe, Outwood, Stanley, Crofton, Havercroft and Ryhill. This will be used when shortlisting applications but is not a requirement.

Are you eligible and what will we fund?

The grants are up to £10,000 per year and we'll consider applications for two years of funding.

Nova is bringing you this opportunity through the Community Investment Gateway. So you'll need to apply to become a Gateway member, if you're not already. We welcome applications from voluntary groups, community groups, sports clubs, leisure clubs, charities, community interest companies, limited companies, and social enterprises.

We will fund new services or activities, or additional capacity/expansion of existing services.

How can you apply?

Applications close at 9am on Monday 11 May 2026.

Our Team are here to help if you have any questions or want support with your application: grants@nova-wd.org.uk
