Citizen Coin launched back in July as a new approach to finding and rewarding volunteers in Wakefield District.
We've kept you updated of this exciting development and our work to support the platform. Now we want to update you on the next step.
From January 2025, Citizen Coin will be the go-to platform for promoting volunteering opportunities in the district. We are currently maintaining and promoting another website, Volunteer>Wakefield, that will be phased out so we can streamline where to find and promote opportunities.
So we encourage you to sign up and make the most of the free platform!
VCSE organisations across the district are already using Citizen Coin with great success.
Citizen Coin is a free app and a website designed to stimulate volunteering and reward volunteers in Wakefield District. Volunteers earn virtual currency for the great things that they do, and this can be used to get discounts on goods and services from local participating retailers, so it’s also supporting local business. Organisations like yourself (called Rewarding Agencies) can reward their existing volunteers by creating activities on the website and asking their volunteers to download the app and sign up to the activities.
It’s easy to use with very little admin required, and it creates data for organisations to evidence their volunteering activities.
More information can be found on the Citizen Coin website.
The Citizen Coin Team at Wakefield Council can assist with the transition over to Citizen Coin and as part of this are offering three training dates via Microsoft Teams. You are welcome to join on the most convenient date using the links below. Please note that you only need to attend one of these sessions.
If you have any queries regarding Citizen Coin or are unable to attend the training, please contact citizencoin@wakefield.gov.uk. Please feel free to share this email with any of your colleagues involved with volunteering.
