Trusteeship and influencing in the new political landscape
Navigating a constantly changing political landscape is difficult for any organisation, particularly when charity advocacy is under scrutiny. But influencing policy can be a great way for charities to deliver social change. And trustees need to know how to support this.
The new Labour government seems willing to work closely with charities. The Civil Society Covenant framework, launched in October 2024, promises to reset the government’s relationship with civil society and build a new meaningful partnership, harnessing the potential of charities, community groups and social impact organisations.
Building on NPC's previous event, Campaigning for trustees, where speakers discussed how charities can campaign effectively and lawfully, we’re regrouping to explore what trustees need to know about influencing in the new political landscape.
This event, led by experts in the sector, will discuss:
- What opportunities and challenges the new government brings for trustees
- The current legal and regulatory landscape for influencing
- How best to work with a new government nationally and locally.
This event is free and open to all trustees, with a particular focus on those of small and medium-sized organisations.
