Nova Trustee

Nova Needs You!

We’re a charity that supports Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations in the Wakefield District to thrive. We help them to develop and grow, providing an influential voice and sharing resources across the sector.

Where do you fit into our story?

We’re looking for new trustees to join our board. You’ll help us move forward with strategic work and make key decisions for the charity, act as a ‘critical friend’ to our CEO and help build relationships with stakeholders and partners.

What we’re looking for

We don’t need you to be an expert trustee or have a detailed understanding of charity governance.

Instead, we value your contribution based on lived experience, your background working in or with a VCSE organisation, and your ability to lead with empathy and care. We particularly welcome applications from people who bring fresh perspectives and insights to our board. Women, people with disabilities, people with neurodivergence, people who are LGBTQ+, and people of global majority heritage are currently under-represented on Nova’s Board.

Why should you do it?

It’s deeply rewarding! You’ll have the chance to shape Nova’s work and make a significant difference in your local community. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to gain high-level strategic and leadership experience to boost your CV.

We are living in socially, economically, and politically challenging times, and with the sector facing increased demand alongside reduced resources, we need trustees who can help us navigate this landscape with confidence and compassion.

What you’ll get as a trustee

  • A full induction, tailored training, and reimbursable expenses
  • Professional development, new skills, and strategic board experience
  • The influence to shape innovative projects
  • The chance to make a real difference to hundreds of organisations facing challenging times
  • Opportunities to build new connections across the Wakefield district
