Funding Information

Grants for capital projects are available to small and medium-sized charities registered in the UK working to assist homeless people to rebuild their lives and return to the community.

Funding is targeted at projects to find practical ways to help disadvantaged individuals return to the community through training or residential facility provision, rather than merely providing short term shelter.

Grant criteria include:

  • Organisation must be registered with the Charity Commission in England, Wales or Northern Ireland or a registered Scottish Charity.
  • Funding is restricted to small charities with an annual turnover of less than £500,000.
  • Grants are available to charities working wholly or mostly with homeless people - general community work, foodbanks or projects that are not focussed on homelessness cannot be funded.
  • Only applications towards the funding of capital projects will be accepted. Help the Homeless are unable to accept applications towards running/core costs or salaries. Note: they are also unable to consider requests for computers and IT equipment.

The quarterly deadlines for applications for funding each year are: 5pm on 20 March, 20 June, 20 September and 20 December.

Applicants requiring funding for building work and refurbishment are advised to contact CRASH, the construction industry's charity for homeless people, for advice.
