Funding Information

We are inviting applications from Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprise organisations for multi-year grants aiming to improve the health and wellbeing of local communities.

The Building Healthy and Sustainable Communities 3 Year Grants will support and develop community initiatives in areas where there are poorer healthcare outcomes. For this funding, the area is Wakefield City Centre including Portobello, Belle Vue and Agbrigg.

We encourage you to apply if your organisations is well positioned to deliver in this area and can support those most likely to experience health inequalities, such as:

  • Ethnic Minorities
  • People with a Learning Disability and Autistic People
  • People with Multiple Morbidities
  • People experiencing Homelessness
  • People with Drug & Alcohol Dependence
  • Vulnerable Migrants
  • Gypsy, Roma & Traveller Communities
  • People in Contact with the Justice System

These grants are funded by Wakefield District Health & Care Partnership through Core20PLUS5 with a total of £150,000 available over three years. Grants are available between £10,000 and £25,000 per year.

What Can Be Funded?

Grants are for VCSE work that improves health and wellbeing; connects with communities; and reduces health inequalities for the specified communities. Here are some examples of what this can cover:

  • Resources to support, increase or extend existing work.
  • Supporting the development of volunteers.
  • Direct project delivery work.
  • Creating or developing posts to undertake the project/proposal.
  • Match-funding.

Reasonable contributions to core/running costs as part of the wider proposal costings will be considered.

Who Can Apply?

This funding is open to: registered charities, CIOs, CICs, Unincorporated Charitable Associations, and unregistered voluntary and community organisations with a not-for-profit constitution.  

We strongly encourage groups/organisations to consider joint applications. It is important that your organisation is embedded within the communities you serve with a positive track record.

How to Apply

If you are interested in the funding, the first steps are for you to:

  • Read the Information Pack to learn more about the grant.
  • Attend the online information session to learn more on Wednesday 27 November, 2pm to 3pm. Email framework@nova-wd.org.uk to book your place.
  • Apply to become a member of the Third Sector Framework if you’re not one already, or work in collaboration with an organisation that is already a Third Sector Framework member. Find out more and apply.
  • Complete the Stage 1 Application by Wednesday 4 December at 5pm. You can access the form through Nova’s database on the Grants Dashboard: https://portal.nova-wd.org.uk/
