Within Wakefield District, there's 6,000 children who don't have a bed of their own to sleep in.

Propser Wakefield District are working with specialist partners Zarach, and founding partners; Gleeds, Wakefield Community Foundation, Wakefield District Council, Juice Personnel and SoluPak to deliver beds across the district to those who need them.

"We understand that a bed is a basic need that can have a profound impact on a child’s physical health, emotional well-being, and academic success. By providing a child with a bed, you’re not only giving them a good nights’ sleep, you’re giving them a good education, hope, a future, a routine and stability."

What will the appeal do?

Through generous donations from local businesses and people across the district, Wakefield Children’s Bed Appeal are able to:

• ‍Purchase New Beds: By partnering with specialist children's bed charity Zarach, the Appeal are able to deliver high-quality beds that are safe, comfortable, and built to last. £200 buys a child’s bed, mattress, bedding, pillow and set of pyjamas.‍
• Deliver to Families in Need: The team of volunteers deliver the bed bundle directly to families, ensuring that children have a bed to sleep in as quickly as possible.‍
• Provide Bedding Essentials: Each bed comes with new, clean, cosy bedding and a set of pyjamas to make sure children feel warm and secure from the very first night.

How you can support

• ‍Sponsor a Bed: You can sponsor a bed set, including a mattress, pillow, pyjamas and bedding. To sponsor a bed you can email info@prosperwakefielddistrict.org‍
• Volunteer: Help us deliver beds or spread the word about the cause! The Appeal need delivery drivers and people/businesses who can store or donate beds. To get involved with volunteering opportunities please email info@prosperwakefielddistrict.org

Making a referral

Families that your organisation supports can benefit from the Appeal.

Prosper advise that "If the signs of bed poverty are seen, please contact the child’s school to make a referral. The school will contact Zarach and the process of receiving a bed should begin. If the family has not heard from Zarach within a week, they can email referrals@zarach.org to check the status of their referral.”
