Inclusion Mentor

Stripes is launching a new Alternative Provision service for primary and secondary-aged pupils with diagnosed or suspected ADHD.

Stripes are looking for compassionate and motivated Inclusion Mentors to provide one-to-one and small-group support to children and young people who may be struggling to engage successfully with education.

The role involves building positive relationships, supporting emotional wellbeing, developing confidence and helping young people overcome barriers to learning.

The Alternative Provision is being developed in partnership with OSMIS Alternative Provision, an established and successful provider of Alternative Provision services in South Yorkshire. Successful applicants will benefit from training, support and established systems whilst helping to shape a new service in West Yorkshire.

Stripes are looking for:

  • Experience working with children and young people.
  • Experience supporting children and young people with diagnosed or suspected ADHD.
  • Good understanding of ADHD and neurodiversity.
  • Experience working with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Driving Requirements
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Access to your own vehicle.
  • Business-use motor insurance (or willingness to obtain this).
  • Ability to travel across Wakefield and surrounding areas.

This role is initially offered on a zero-hours contract whilst the new Alternative Provision service becomes established.

Demand for the provision is expected to be high and there is a strong likelihood that staff will be offered the option of moving to a fixed 15-hour-per-week contract from January 2027.

Stripes is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Successful applicants will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
