Our House has become a lifeline for so many local LGBTQ+ people across Wakefield District, and they have welcomed over 3000 people through their doors in the short 18 months since they first opened. Now, they need our help!

Just last week, Our House were unfortunately served notice on their current building, giving them a short window of time to source a new venue. They knew this would likely happen at some point in the future, but it has been a huge shock to the team that it has happened so soon.

However, despite this period of uncertainty, the team has been working around the clock to make a plan that hopefully means they won't have to close Our House's doors for very long. They have sourced a new potential venue and are running an emergency crowdfunder to help raise the funds needed for this important next chapter, where Our House seek to secure a home for at least two to three years. They've already raised £1,500 in the first 24 hours!

Since they opened, Our House have been offering a life-changing community space for LGBTQ+ people. As Louie said in our Member Spotlight, their work has "started to change the narrative about Wakefield being a place where LGBTQ+ people can stay, and belong, and are welcome."

They're such an important addition to our local VCSE sector and we're proud to count them as one of our members.

We're asking our members to consider how you can support Our House during this challenging time - through donating, hiring them, sharing the call out for support or offering your services.

Their activity will run as normal until 28 January 2024, when they will close their doors at 96 Kirkgate. Our House hope to be up and running in their new venue sometime in March 2024.
