New dates announced for Nova training on volunteering

We're thrilled to announce our first training sessions of 2022!

T

he sessions which will be focusing on an essential part of voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations...VOLUNTEERING.

If you're struggling to recruit volunteers now that people have returned to work or just need some insight on how to manage your volunteers, then this is the training for you.

The contribution of volunteers is vital to the VCSE sector. In Wakefield, 11,994 volunteers donate 863,574 hours each year, contributing nearly £12 million to the economy. Our training sessions are here to help you make the most of this amazing contribution!

The sessions available are:

VolunteerManagement Two-Day Course

Wednesday 9 March AND Wednesday 16 March, 10am -4pm on both days.
Kinsley & Fitzwilliam Learning & Community Centre, Wakefield Road,Pontefract, WF9 5BP

This course is ideal for staff, volunteers, trustees and directors who want tobuild their skills and understanding of volunteer management. From thiscomprehensive course, you will:

  • Understand the entire volunteer management journey
  • Identify specific ways to motivate and reward volunteers in your organisation
  • Gain the confidence to know that you are managing your volunteers effectively and providing a robust structure for them to work within.
  • Reflect on challenging situations and explore how to deal with them
  • Know where to find practical support with volunteer management

VolunteerRecruitment Training

Friday 18 March, 10am - 11.30am - Online
Wednesday 30 March, 10am - 1pm - St Swithun's Community Centre,Arncliffe Road, Wakefield, WF1 4RR

This practical workshop focuses on how to recruitvolunteers, an important focus for many VCSE organisations as formalvolunteering rates decrease. From this session, you will:

  • Understand how to recruit volunteers using a variety of marketing tools
  • Learn the crucial role of the volunteer manager
  • Write engaging but realistic volunteer role descriptions Know where to find practical tools to recruit volunteers
  • Reflect on changing volunteer demographics
  • Learn how to promote diversity in volunteer recruitment

  • In person sessions are limited to 16 attendees, so please book as soon as possible to avoid missing out.  
  • All training is free for Nova members with an annual income under £25,000.
  • Pricing for other organisation can be found on the Eventbrite page for each session.  
  • Cancellation can take place up to 48 hours prior to the session.
