We are a lively and welcoming group with a broad interest in all things Arty and Crafty with a membership that includes some professional Artists and Crafters who love to share their skills. We meet every week apart from 2 weeks around Christmas.
Group members (18 years upwards) participate and share ideas and skills in all the arts, crafts, photography, and computing as well as sharing meals two to three times a year (when restrictions allow).
We provide a weekly supportive social opportunity/informal learning facility, including planned workshops such as soap making, Rakau firing, and bookbinding to name a few. This year, we have a needle felting bauble decoration and still life drawing workshop in the diary.
What project are you working on that you’re most proud of?
A few really ……. Difficult to choose from!
Any project that you'd like to highlight?
Taking part in the Mental Health Museum project, we was exhibited in Wakefield One prior to lockdown.
This project has led onto another exhibition that is soon to open which is all about the Pandemic and the impact it has had on everyone’s mental health.
Fun fact about your organisation
We love to chat and eat as well as our arts and crafts – we sit together 2 to 3 times a year to share a meal, the last time we were able to do this was in February 2019 when we enjoyed pancakes!
What do you like about being a Nova member?
We like how there is someone there to provide information and support, to be able to offer guidance and a way to promote our group.
How can local organisations and the public support you?
To come down and visit us, see what we are about, we always welcome new members and new ideas then spread the word!!
