A new mental health peer support group aimed at members of the rock and metal community is about to launch in Castleford.

Heavy Mental Therapy was founded by a group of heavy metal fans with lived experience of mental health and struggles as well as skilled mental health professionals. We're proud to count them as one of our members!

The CIC has run a successful pilot peer support group in Wakefield, at Throwback Coffee, for the last six months. Now rolling out to other areas, one of the first new Be Reyt groups will be at Flarepath (RAFA) in Castleford, starting on Sunday 18 August from 5pm to 7pm.

The group at Throwback Coffee continues to run on on the last Wednesday of the month at 6pm.

Aimed at being a peer led support group, the Heavy Metal Therapy sessions will take place once a month to offer collaborative support to its members through talking about concerns, shared opinions and struggles, and also share success stories and strategies with each other.

It’s open to anyone over 18 (no referral etc).

If you'd like to get in touch with Heavy Metal Therapy, you can email them at churchofhmt@gmail.com
