The Brelms Trust is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) offering grants to a wide variety of charities operating in the community. Funding is given exclusively to charities based in Yorkshire and directly benefitting only Yorkshire communities.
Priority in our grant giving is given to charities working at the heart of communities to tackle disadvantage and to provide sustainable benefit to the community. Applications are welcomed from a diversity of charitable organisations and can cover staff salaries, volunteer expenses and running costs, as well as direct service provision.
The Trust does not generally support the total cost of a project, and applicants should demonstrate that wider funding plans are in place.
Grants are currently awarded from £1,000 to a maximum of £6,000 per year, either as a one-off amount or for up to a maximum of 3 consecutive years. Therefore, the minimum grant is for a one-off £1,000 and the maximum is £18,000 spread equally over a 3-year period.
The Trustees meet quarterly to make grant awards, but the assessment of applications is ongoing throughout the year.
Grants are available for small to medium-sized charities registered and working in the UK that defend human rights and promote respect for vulnerable individuals.
Funding is available to VCSE organisations to explore ideas to improve health, wellbeing, or community services through research - with interest in exploring the intersection of mental health & health inequalities.
Grant funding of up to £10,250 is available for eligible community and voluntary organisations to set up and deliver the DofE, as well as the enrolment costs for young people taking part.
