Wakefield District Health & Care Partnership launched on 1 July as national legislation came into effect.

The new legislation will see Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) established across the country, each of which will have an NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB) responsible for planning and arranging the provision of health services to meet the needs of the local population. This used to be performed by Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), such as Wakefield CCG, which have been now been abolished.

In Wakefield District, the ICS (Wakefield District Health & Care Partnership) will have a place-based partnership operating across council, NHS, social care providers and the VCSE sector to lead the delivery of integrated services.

The King's Fund have made an informative animation that explains the the changes happening in the NHS. If you're finding the changes in Wakefield District confusing, we'd recommend you give it a watch: https://youtu.be/blapgFKXv0I
