An Introduction to Deaf Awareness

FUN FACT: Did you know that 1 in 5 adults in the UK are deaf or hard of hearing?

After this session:

  • Be able to deliver a more accessible experience to deaf and hard of hearing people
  • Build your knowledge and understanding in relation to the barriers faced by deaf and hard of hearing people people
  • Work more effectively with deaf and hard of hearing colleagues providing a better working environment for them
  • Be confident in working with deaf and hard of hearing people in other environments avoiding awkwardness
  • Have some understanding of the types and causes of deafness
  • Have an understanding of what “reasonable adjustments” you can make under the Equality Act 2010

You can park in the fee-paying car park opposite the building - Rodney Yard (WF1 1LQ) or 5 minutes walk down the street at George Street Car Park (WF1 1NE).
