Following a cancer diagnosis last year, Claire Stewart (Director of The Crafty Creatives) established a support group dedicated to providing assistance for individuals affected by cancer through providing weekly craft sessions specifically designed for this purpose. These sessions are open to beginners, making it accessible to anyone without prior experience. The group fosters a welcoming and friendly environment, where participants can engage in various crafts and activities.

The primary objective of the support group is to offer individuals diagnosed with cancer or those affected by it an opportunity to acquire new skills and engage in enjoyable and diverse activities each week. To ensure a more personalized experience, the group size is intentionally kept small, accommodating individuals who may experience anxiety in larger group settings. Due to the high demand for participation, we operate on a booking system to effectively manage the group dynamics and ensure everyone receives the necessary attention and support.

#Time2Talk is a fortnightly mental health chat and support social group. They hold fortnightly meetings with a different topic every fortnight, Wednesday 6:30-8:30pm.

28a Supported Living Ltd supports vulnerable adults in the local community. It provides supported housing and an individual support package tailored to the individual, and a drop in service. 28a Supported Living Ltd's outcome is obtaining secure tenancy with local authority housing or similar and for the service user to be able to manage their own tenancy and to be able to live more empowered in mainstream.

5 Towns Media (Yorkshire) is a volunteer run community media and radio group for the 5 Towns area of Wakefield metropolitan district.

5 Towns Veterans Support Hub is a volunteer group of Armed Forces Veterans who meet to offer friendship and signposting to various agencies that offer help to veterans and their families who are suffering with PTSD, housing issues, DWP etc. They currently offer drop in services in Castleford and Featherstone.

A Future in Sport provides opportunities to become involved in multi-sport activities for players, coaches and volunteers. It also provides training and education opportunities for anyone with an interest in involvement in sport and/or associated skills.

Ackworth Riding for the Disabled Association provides horse riding and driving as therapy for disabled people.

Afemai Children's Trust (ACT) is a registered charity that works with children in the Afemai area of Edo State, Nigeria, and children living in Yorkshire, United Kingdom.Our goal is to give children the opportunity to better themselves, their families and their communities. Every child has enormous potential to do great things. Their minds are the key to a brighter future for themselves and for everyone around them. Afemai Children's Trust is passionate, committed and determined to make a "real" difference to the children of Afemai and Yorkshire.Through our workshops and events, we are broadening the minds of Yorkshire's children, and making a real difference in their lives. Whether it be through cooking, art or leadership training for example, we are introducing them to other cultures and a world of possibilities.

The objects of the African United Society in Wakefield are: a) To promote social inclusion for the public benefit by preventing people from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society. b) To advance the education of the public in the subject of African culture and heritage.

Agbrigg Muslim Association provides education to children from the age 5-16 years old, as well as education to females. They provide prayer facilities, and are a meeting place, for the local Muslim community.

Agbrigg and Belle Vue Community Association is a voluntary group set up to improve the lives of the people in the Agbrigg and Belle Vue area. It has an eco-building on an allotment site which is used by groups with different health needs using gardening as therapy.

Age UK Wakefield District promotes the well-being of all older people and aims to help make later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience.

The Aire and Calder Methodist Circuit support 32 Methodist schools and a Methodist primary school in the Wakefield Metropolitan District and part of Leeds. It also supports a range of local community projects run by the churches.

Airedale Baby and Children's Bank helps struggling families in our community with baby and children's items from birth to young adults. They work closely with the local food bank so that families in need can receive food parcels and supplies for children. They also work with other local baby banks in Wakefield and share surplus stock.

Airedale Boxing Club is a boxing club that provides training regimes for competitive amateur boxers and those aspiring to box competitively and provides exercise and fitness sessions for persons of all ages seeking to improve their health.

Airedale Community Workshop is designed to tackle social isolation, anxiety, depression and other mental health problems through none traditional therapy delivered via woodworking workshop sessions.

Airedale Neighbourhood Management Board has been a voluntary group since 2008. It works with Wakefield District partners to improve the area for the people of Airedale, Fryston, Ferry Fryston and Townville in Castleford. It manages a social enterprise community cafe.

Alzheimer's Society Wakefield provides services for people with dementia, their families and carers.

Aphasia Support help people with their speech when no other speech therapy is available. It aims to help people to gain confidence, lose their feeling of isolation and get back into the wider community.

Appletree Community Group is a constituted group at Appletree Allotment & Community Garden - A place to learn, meet, grow and dig deep. Everyone is welcome - learn some new growing skills or share what you know! Give a little of your time and share the great fresh produce.

Aspire-igen  is a Yorkshire based social enterprise committed to changing lives for the  better through learning and work. For the past 25 years, it has successfully  helped people and communities to be the best they can be. Its aspire2work  programme offers free vocational study programmes for 16 to 19 year olds,  these qualifications will help kick-start their future! Accelerate is a  programme for young people aged 15 to 24 years old who are not in; education,  employment or training or at risk of disengaging from education, employment  and training, creating career pathways for young people through regulated and  non-regulated learning, employability skills training and work experience.

Aspire2b deliver I Media to young people who are disadvantaged and vulnerable as well as delivering sports and business enterprise. Its specialism is working with NEETs and vulnerable adults or families.

Using nature and heritage crafts to improve wellbeing.

Autism  Plus is a registered charity that provides a range of services to adults with  autism. Its services include supported living, residential care, day  provision, social enterprises as well as employment support. It currently  delivers a project supporting adults with autism across Wakefield District  into employment called Step Forward.

BHA for equality teams are located in Manchester Leeds and Wakefield. The services we have available in Wakefield are HIV support and prevention. We offer 121, group and peer support as well as HIV training to all people living with HIV in Wakefield. We also offer free rapid HIV testing, HIV prevention and Sexual health sessions, free condoms, HIV & Sexual Health knowledge and awareness training.

BLESS Community Services CIC provides a large range of social activities for the community in Upton.

Barnardo's provides support to vulnerable children, young people and their families.

Supporting  anybody affected by self-harm by running adult peer support groups, on line  support for all ages, discussion groups for family, workshops for under 18's  and training for professionals.

Be True To You Recovery CIC provide a holistic health and wellbeing service to those with mental health conditions and/or fibromyalgia. This is delivered by a recovery coach on a 1:1 basis and a team of practitioners in a group setting. They have support groups, therapies and 1:1, including a Freedom From Fibromyalgia course that they deliver via the NHS Wakefield Recovery and Wellbeing College. Be True To You Recovery CIC are a Recovery focused service.

Beam is the trading name of Public Arts – an arts charity founded in 1986, based in Wakefield, working locally, nationally and internationally. Beam draws upon 30 years of experience linking arts, people and places to develop robust yet flexible approaches to embedding the arts and creativity into the public realm and also respond sensitively to the needs of communities to enhance a wider sense of place.

Beat Autism is a not for profit community interest group that offers parent/carer support and learn groups to families who have children waiting to be diagnosed or have a diagnosis of Autism. It also offers evening activities for the whole family (Autistic child, parents and siblings).

Bethany House Healing Centre provides a safe place where people over 18 going through emotionally difficult times in their lives can find help and refuge from the pressures of life in a loving, supportive and peaceful environment.

Bevan  Healthcare work in Wakefield District providing primary healthcare to  vulnerable groups, particularly asylum seekers. They are commissioned by the  Wakefield District Health & Care Partnership (ICB).

Bilal Community Association promotes inter-cultural dialogue between communities, building trust and understanding and empowering communities to engage peacefully with each other. It provides help to communities which have been affected by cultural conflict.

Brass  Bands England works with a wide range of partners in strategic, tactical and  informal ways to help share the fun, challenges and rewards of being involved  with a brass band.    It promotes and shares the brass band story and encourages the support of  bands across the country.    It is a voice for its bands and its players and it shouts about the  life-enhancing benefits of this vital part of its culture.

Breast  Cancer Haven offers vital one-to-one emotional, physical and practical  support to anyone affected by breast cancer.

Bridge-It  Housing UK Team Limited provides temporary accommodation for people,  particularly ex-offenders, rough sleepers, victims of domestic violence,  people with drug and alcohol problems and people with mental health issues.

To mobilise the power of humanity so that individuals and communities have the  capacity to prepare for, deal with and recover from crisis.

C&K Careers is a not for profit social enterprise delivering a range of matrix  accredited services on behalf of schools, colleges, local authorities, prime  and area based contractors. Offering high quality IAG services to young  people and adults. Broadly, it offers: Individual careers guidance, group  sessions, interactive careers events and personalised development activities  in over 80 schools/colleges/special schools delivered by Level 6 qualified  Careers Advisers to support students to make successful life choices;  Specialist targeted support for vulnerable/SEND students and NEET young  people; Analysis of data, reports evaluating impact of careers activity and  programmes and evidencing narrowing the gap in outcomes for vulnerable  groups; Licensed awarding body for QiCS; Local, regional and national LMI;  training and development for the CEIAG sector including the Careers Leader  qualification; and Employer engagement.

CLIC Sargent is the UK's leading cancer charity for children, young people and  their families. Its care teams have been providing specialist support across  the UK for years. CLIC Sargent knows that for young lives, when the doctor says cancer,  normal life stops. Cancer affects every part of life – relationships,  confidence, money, school, work.    CLIC Sargent care teams will fight tirelessly to limit the damage cancer  causes. It will listen, and ask the right questions, so it can provide the  right support, tailored to each young person and family.This might mean arranging a CLIC Sargent grant or helping young people and  families get the benefits they are entitled to. Coordinating care so that  some medical procedures can happen at home, or arranging free accommodation  in a CLIC Sargent Home from Home. Or helping young cancer patients and  families keep in touch with school, college or work to keep life as normal as  possible.

Cancer  Support Yorkshire provides help and support to people who have received a  cancer diagnosis. It can help with practical issues and also provides  emotional support. Cancer Support Yorkshire can be contacted directly without  going through a healthcare professional; all of its services are free to  access.

Care to Talk is a mental health drop in centre for people who suffer from mental health problems and need support. Its Vision is to be an enlightening strength based project helping people feel better - make changes - be resilient - regain control of their lives. The project will provide friendship, staffed by people who have live experience of living with poor mental health. Volunteering opportunities - programmes to help with recovery, peer support, health and wellness programmes and employability. The project meets on a Friday 11:30-1:30pm.

The Carers Cafe C.I.C. is a newly establishes service, created in 2021 with the aim of promoting the mental health and wellbeing of unpaid carers. We provide an online space where they can connect and share stories, support each other, learn to take care of themselves all from the comfort of their own homes. We also aim to help unpaid carers to balance work, caring and home life. We work to encourage businesses to better manage and retain unpaid carers in the workplace through awareness raising, group and one to one coaching.

Carers  Federation is a charity providing services supporting carers, advocacy,  mentoring, counselling and community engagement, and is a provider of  specialist training services.

Carers  Trust is Britain's leading provider of support for carers and the people that  they care for. It is a national network of charities working with over 35,000  carers to help them make a life outside caring. As a charity it cares for  people not for profit. No-one cares more than Carers Trust, not just in the  scale of what it does or in the 35 years' experience that it has, but in the  special way that it thinks about care. It is no surprise that the Carers  Trust staff builds long and trusted relationships and that more carers and  people with care needs turn to Carers Trust for support than to any other  social care provider.

Carers Wakefield and District provides support, information, advice and advocacy to unpaid carers.

Castleford All Stars Gymnastics Club's aim is to create a safe and fun environment for all its club members from beginners to advanced, young and older, to progress in gymnastics skills and core fitness!

Castleford Community Learning Centre provides adult education opportunities for the community offering courses covering a wide range of differing interests and needs.

Castleford Heritage Trust uses Castleford's heritage and culture to provide community and regeneration projects, environmental improvements and educational opportunities for the benefit of local people and visitors to the town.

Change,  Grow, Live is the young persons' drug and alcohol service in Wakefield.

Children of Normanton Support Team (C.O.N.S.T.) runs a children's activity group for under privileged children, ages ranging from 5 to 16 years of age. The group comprises of multi sports and arts and crafts activities. C.O.N.S.T. also assists the children to achieve their first aid certificates, Kwik cricket certificates on all levels and young leader's certificate in sport. C.O.N.S.T is currently working towards its energy club certification.

CAP  DEBT HELP: CAP's debt help is tailored to help financially and socially  disadvantaged people out of debt. The combination of face-to-face home  visits, a befriending service and CAP's in-depth debt counselling empowers  individuals who are struggling or have complex needs to work themselves out  of debt.    CAP JOB CLUB: CAP Job Club allows jobseekers to face this challenge with  other people in similar situations. They also receive practical and tailored  support through one-to-one coaching and the eight session Steps to Employment  course, which takes them through each step of the job hunting process.      CAP RELEASE GROUP: These groups offer support to anyone with life  controlling issues. Whatever it is people are struggling with, the groups  provide a safe and confidential place where they can tackle the issue right  at the core to break free and stay free.

Citizens Advice Bureau - Wakefield District provides free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to everyone on their rights and responsibilities. It values diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination.

City of Wakefield Golf Club exists to promote the health and fitness of the public (without distinction of race, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religious or similar belief) by promoting community participation in healthy recreation through provision of facilities for playing golf at the Gaskell Sports Pavilion or other such venue as the trustees may determine.

Cloverleaf  Advocacy provides person centred advocacy services for people with mental  health needs, people with learning disabilities, people with physical or  sensory impairments, acquired brain injury, older people and carers.

CoActive is an arts organisation dedicated to working with people with learning disabilities. We provide the opportunity for people in the Wakefield District to engage with the arts for fun, health, or to develop as: dancers, performers, creators, leaders and role models. Members have the opportunity to express themselves creatively, learn new skills and realise their ambitions.Our mission statement:To create a space where the unique humanity, value and potential of each person with learning disabilities is recognised, celebrated and developed.To develop the skills, talents and honour the achievements of people with learning disabilities through public performance, exhibition, training and professional development.To promote awareness and respect, locally, nationally and internationally of the value and creativity of people with learning disabilities.

Community  First Yorkshire is an influential, regional body which works with voluntary  and community organisations, social enterprises and rural communities across  North, South and West Yorkshire. It is an independent charity formed from a  merger between Rural Action Yorkshire and the North Yorkshire & York  Forum.

The Community Foundation Wakefield District raises funds and provides grants that make a genuine difference to the lives of local people. It manages charitable funds donated by local people, families, businesses and trusts, building up a source of long-term support for the community and acting as the vital link between donors and local needs, enabling people to achieve far more than they could by themselves. It is dedicated to helping communities grow by creating opportunities and tackling issues of disadvantage and exclusion.

Community  Links is an award winning non-profit provider of mental health and wellbeing  services in Yorkshire and the Humber. It offers support for people with a  wide range of mental health issues including anxiety and depression,  psychosis, alcohol and substance misuse and personality disorder.

Community Links Training is its social enterprise which offers award  winning mental health awareness and personal development training, including  its flagship courses; Mental Health First Aid, Youth Mental Health First Aid,  Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training and safeTALK.

Community  Transport Calderdale provides transport for people who cannot access  alternatives due to ill health, isolation, disability, poverty or social  exclusion.

Complex Minds provides support and advice for all age groups on Hidden Impairments (e.g. ADHD, Aspergers, Dyslexia etc). It provides training, advice and guidance for professionals, employers and for voluntary and community groups.

Crafting4Good CIC aims to promote wellbeing and positive mental health through creativity.Crafting4Good CIC's new Creative Hub supports community groups and individuals to engage in arts and crafts: Crafting4Good CIC receives donations of unwanted supplies from both individuals and companies, often diverting it from landfill, which it either sells at low-cost to raise funds or distributes for free where possible.Crafting4Good CIC also has an online shop where groups and individuals can download printable activities which can be used time and time again, and the made up items can be sold for fundraising.Working in partnership with other organisations, and depending on resources, Crafting4Good CIC is able to deliver or supply community-based creative sessions, particularly for those in low-income areas.

Cream Catering provides the highest quality catering services at the best value to its customers and through application of expert commercial aptitude. In addition, being a CIC Social Enterprise, it provides employment opportunities for people who have experienced mental ill health or learning disabilities.

Crigglestone Day Care Limited is an Industrial and Provident Society (Social Enterprise) providing year-round childcare for children aged 0-5.

Crofton Community Centre hosts various activities for the local community. It is a meeting place for several user groups. It has indoor and outdoor sports facilities, including an artificial all weather floodlight pitch.

Crofton Parish Church serves the village of Crofton.

Crofton Phoenix Cricket Club is a local cricket club located in the Crofton area of Wakefield. The club is dedicated to benefiting the local communities in and around Crofton. Its primary focus is on the communities within the governance of the City of Wakefield. The club utilizes cricket as a means to enhance the health and well-being of the local residents. The CPCC Community initiatives aim to promote physical activity among both young and older individuals, while also addressing social isolation.

In addition to organizing indoor and outdoor coaching sessions, the club conducts open community cricket sessions during the summer. They offer cricket facilities and training to individuals of all age groups and backgrounds in the local community. Currently, the club has three senior teams and one junior team(under-15) participating in various leagues.

Crofton Young People Association are volunteers who run Crofton Youth Club on Friday nights.

Dance  and health charity which aims to reducing health inequalities and tackling  inactivity through asset-based community development and dance.

DIAL Wakefield provides a free comprehensive independent advice and information service to disabled people, their carers, families, friends and other professionals.

Dakini Reiki Healing Matrix is a new business providing holistic therapies with the five town area and sections of the wider community. They promote overall well-being by restoring  balance and harmony within the body, mind, and spirit, stress reduction though Reiki and other holistic therapies, and physical and emotional healing.

Day One  Trauma Support is a charity supporting lives affected by major trauma. They  provide practical, financial and emotional support alongside NHS clinical  care, for patients and their loved ones for as long as they need.

Deaf  Ex-Mainstreamers Group aim is for deaf children to have better access to education:

To work towards the implementation of bilingual education in British Sign Language/English for all deaf children.

To continue to research, map, facilitate participation and  inform.

To continue to develop strategy to achieve a BSL Act.

To continue to facilitate the DEX Deaf Youth Council to support local  deaf young people in understanding themselves as deaf people and with quality  of life.

Disability Sport Yorkshire promotes sport and active recreation for disabled people.

Dominion Employment Training Services empowers people with the basic skills needed to be productive in employment or in their chosen careers. Dominion aims to provide its clients with opportunities that will enable them to use the best of their abilities in every facet of life.

Dream Time Creative is a social enterprise company (CIC) that works with both public and private funding organisations. Its philosophy is to empower through creativity. Established in 2016 by a group of women who have been delivering creative courses to women with mental health issues in Wakefield and who specialise in empowering the woman's voice, its aim is to enable those who participate in its courses to embrace their creativity and give them confidence to engage with and participate in the wider community.

Durkar Devils JFC Limited is a community football club. The club is currently working with FA, Wakefield Council, Wakefield College and other partners to grow a girls and ladies section.

EN:Able  Communities CIO is the charitable arm of Efficiency North Limited (ENL). Member organisations of ENL (which represent 79% of Social Housing landlord  stock across the whole of Yorkshire and Humber) access ENL's suite of  procurement frameworks, to repair and maintain their stock and build new  properties to add to their portfolios.  

In accessing these frameworks a fee is generated, 1% of this is ring-fenced  purely for the delivery of Social Value, a portion of this is ring-fenced  further to fund the EN:Able Community Investment Fund. The Fund supports  small scale projects, benefiting local communities within the Yorkshire and  Humber area, and is open to applications from community groups/projects  within Wakefield District.

Eastmoor Community Garden, created and developed by volunteers, provides a green space for people to grow flowers, vegetables, fruits and herbs. It also gives people the opportunity to get exercise, take part in events and activities, meet others, and learn about nature and sustainability.

Eastmoor Community Project operates St Swithun's Community Centre. The project generates and maintains community involvement and builds the long-term capacity for local residents to participate and contribute to the development of education, training, and health initiatives within the Eastmoor area.

Edgelands Arts creates culturally connected communities by sharing stories from the edges of cities, communities and countryside. Edgelands Arts collaborates, commissions, creates and co-produces excellent and accessible arts projects which: bring artists and communities together; (re)connect people with each other and the world around them; explore stories of space, place, identity and belonging; and improve the social, cultural and community well-being of people of all ages and abilities.

Education  Development Trust works collaboratively with national and local governments,  schools and other partners from around the world to design and deliver  sustainable solutions to improve education and transform lives. They are  running a new free employability support programme called Making a  Difference, supporting individuals to progress and realise their own  potential.

Elite Community Sports Coaching CIC is a local organisation that works across Wakefield. Its partnerships with Wakefield Council, StreetGames, Rugby League  Cares,The Children's First Hub, West Yorkshire Police, Primary Schools and  Secondary Schools in the local area continues to grow, with over 300 children  and young people from across the city attending evening and weekend sessions  each week. Elite Community Sports Coaching CIC uses sport, dance and other  enrichment activities as a tool to enhance the lives of young people through  improving physical and mental health, mentoring them to increase confidence,  raise aspirations, and for some groups, divert them away from antisocial  behaviour and crime.

Ellis' Cradle raises funds for cuddle cot systems following a still birth. Cuddle cot systems are not funded by the NHS and not seen as a necessity, however following a still birth a cuddle cot allows the parents to make memories with their child and say goodbye in their own time. The cuddle cots will be donated to Wakefield and Dewsbury hospitals.

Elsium Education CIC provides and delivers 21st Century learning opportunities, projects and workshops across the community for organisations, commercial companies, schools, local authorities, trusts and other not-for-profit organisations. Elsium Education CIC provides workshops, projects, training and consultancy, that inspires enthuses and nurtures; in a range of areas including arts, music, digital skills, heritage, enterprise, innovation and creativity. It provides project management, resource creation and delivery.

Emma's  Embrace provides research and information to students and young people to  promote mental health and wellbeing.

Empath  Action CIC uses storytelling in its many forms to create cohesion, personal  change, and civic pride in Wakefield. Everyone has a story to tell, and everyone's story deserves to be heard. We  help people in Wakefield achieve this through theatre performances, writing workshops, crafting workshops, and any art form that allows creative  expression and empowerment.

Enable  Unity CIC supports disabled people to improve their access to leisure and  recreation opportunities. They provide a multi-sensory centre and access to  sensory environments

Enabling Youth and Motorcross CIC works with children and young people aged 7-25 years old. The Project has five main objectives:1) To provide an off road motor-cross track for young people for the safe and legal participation of off road motorcycling.2) To teach young people how to ride, repair and maintain motorcycles and to gain accreditation, qualifications and secure employment with training.3) To deliver education in a classroom environment of the consequences of illegal riding.4) To work with young people as informal educators providing support via universal and targeted service provision.5) To work with young people as informal educators using a Detached Youth Work Model, working with hard to reach young people on the streets.

Equine  Pathways UK is a Leeds based equine therapy organisation working with people  throughout Yorkshire, offering free of charge sessions to children and adults  suffering with mental disorders and impairments. Its centre users range from  children struggling with bullying, autism and learning difficulties; to  adults battling depression and overcoming other stressful illnesses.

The  Eritrean Community Association in Wakefield is a group of people from the  Eritrean community that wants to integrate and make a difference in the  community area it lives. The group wants to participate in the community  activities in the area.

Evergreen Active CIC exists to help anyone and everyone to improve their physical and mental health and wellbeing! They do this by putting fun, inclusivity and sustainability at the forefront of being physically active, for everyone...Because after all, if something isn't enjoyable, why would we want to do it?! 

Paula and Andy are certified Mental Health and Exercise Coaches based in Ossett but, together with their amazing team of volunteers, they work across our rich and diverse district providing a wide range of wellbeing activities and services to people of all ages and abilities. They also love to collaborate with VCSE colleagues so feel free to get in touch for a chat!

Everyones Mental Health Matters (CIC) offer activities that benefit local people who are struggling with mental health issues and feel they have nowhere to.

Families  and Babies Breastfeeding Support (FAB) provides breastfeeding support and  education from the antenatal period and throughout the breastfeeding journey.  Support is available at home, in breastfeeding groups and on maternity wards  at Pinderfields. FAB also offers a 24 hour breastfeeding helpline.

Featherstone Rovers Foundation is the charitable arm of Featherstone Rovers RLFC, engaging the local community through its projects that run over five pillars of delivery including: Education; Social Inclusion; Physical Activity; Health and Heritage.

Ferrybridge Community Centre offers lots of different classes and activities for all ages. It has rooms available to hire for functions and parties.

Five Towns Christian Fellowship (5TCF) is a warm and lively church, evangelical and charismatic, with lots of social activity. 5TCF believes church is not where we go but what we are. 5TCF is multi-generational and caters for all ages through various activities and projects.

Forget  Me Not Children's Hospice that supports children with life-shortening conditions, plus their entire families.    

Forget Me Not Children's Hospice helps hundreds of wonderful children, and their equally wonderful families, through its Hospice at Home service and at  its fantastic hospice building at Russell House in Huddersfield.

Friends  of Haw Park Wood and Wintersett work closely with the rangers at Anglers CP  and Haw Park Wood carrying out maintenance on the reserves and organising  educational events for the public.

Friends of Walton Colliery Nature Park is a group of volunteers, with a small management committee, who support the forestry and parks teams in caring for the local nature park.

Friends  of Waterton's Wall are a group that aim to identify and preserve a section of  the wall surrounding Charles Waterton’s estate in Walton, Wakefield and to  promote its upkeep and history.

Friends of the Community is a group of like-minded women who meet on a Monday. Its aim is to bring the community together without discrimination and promote a sense of togetherness, wellbeing and encourage conversations that would not normally happen, in an environment that is welcoming.

Fusion  Housing provides housing advice, housing support services and learning  opportunities to people in Kirklees. It is the lead partner in a Fair Chance  Partnership scheme which aims to improve accommodation and work outcomes for  young homeless 18 - 24 year olds by offering innovative and intensive  support. The Fair Chance Scheme works with clients in Kirklees, Calderdale  and Wakefield.

Future  Years is the forum on ageing for Yorkshire and Humber. Its aim is to  represent the views of older people to influence policy makers and service  development to take into account the views and needs of older people.

GASPED offers information, advice, guidance, counselling, one to one appointments, signposting and group support for people who are suffering from anxiety , stress, bereavement and loss as a result of COVID-19 or any mental health issue.

Gentle Steps is a self-help support group for people with dental phobias. It helps people to gain confidence, share experiences (not compulsory), share tips and knowledge.

Glasshoughton Community Forum provides healthy living, learning and leisure activities at its community centre in Castleford.

Glasshoughton/Redhill Environment Action Team (GREAT) exists as an environmental action team for a defined area in Glasshoughton and Redhill. The group regularly undertake litter picks. They also provides two children's fun events in August and at Christmas. These events involve children attending with their parents. Finally they work closely with our partners namely Wakefield Council, Wakefield District Housing and Nova.

Choirs Go Pop is an established, innovative, 2-day choral festival in Wakefield giving the public and UK choirs access to workshops, professional feedback and performance opportunities.

Grace's Place is a community, non-profit making company set up to provide person-centred day services, in the founder's home, for adults with a variety of disabilities.

Grange Park Bowling Club is a crown green bowling club supporting members in bowling. It holds open events for non-members to get interested in the sport. Afternoon tea events are held throughout the summer season.

Green Tracks Enterprise is a new social enterprise organic market garden supporting adults with additional needs.

Groundwork Wakefield, which is part of Groundwork North, East and West Yorkshire, supports communities in need, working with partners across the Wakefield District to make positive changes. Holistic Healing Friends is a group of Reiki practitioners that got together to provide a Reiki share experience to members of the community in order to improve people's wellbeing. Its mission is to help and support people in need, specifically those who are experiencing challenging situations in their lives and, consequently, need a helping hand, a fraternal embrace, to feel they are not alone by providing advice, raising awareness through talk for personal growth and meditation and promoting wellness by providing complementary therapies like Reiki healing.

Home-Start Wakefield & District supports families across the Wakefield District. Support is available to any family who is experiencing stress or difficulty and who has at least one child under the age of 12 years. Home-Start Wakefield & District supports families who may be dealing with issues such as isolation, emotional health and relationship problems. Its Giving Back project supports families with children 5-12 years to improve parenting and coping skills to help them manage behaviour, support their children's learning and develop healthy lifestyles. It also offers support in family groups where parents can get out and meet others. These are informal groups where parents can come together and where children can play and interact with other children.

Homes 4 Yorkshire aims to use the house building process as a vehicle to create skilled and well paid jobs for people who struggle to find work.

Horbury Breakthrough Youth Project is a charitable youth project of Horbury Churches Together working with 11-25 year olds in Horbury, Lupset, Netherton, Middlestown and Overton. It provides games, sports and youth club activity clubs, drop-ins, cooking and performing arts clubs, self esteem/social interaction groups, residential experience weekends and more.

The charity's objects are: (a) To encourage high standards of architecture and town planning in the township of Horbury; (b) To stimulate public interest in and care for the beauty, history and character of the town and its surroundings; (c) To encourage the preservation, development and improvement of features of general public amenity or historic interest; and (d) To pursue these ends by means of meetings, exhibitions, lectures and promotions of schemes of a charitable nature.

Horbury Community Centre Trust is a small charitable organisation working with local residents, businesses and other voluntary and community organisations to improve the lives of residents of Horbury and South Ossett.Horbury Community Centre Trust does this by providing a community centre with facilities for leisure and education.

The principal objective of the Horbury Heritage Community Building Preservation and Management Trust is to preserve for the benefit of the people of Horbury and of the Nation, the historical architectural and constructional heritage that may exist in and around Horbury. HHT has close links with the community through its role as Trustee of Primrose Hall, a community hall sustainably managed for the benefit of the people of Horbury. Informal Learning Limited delivers quality grassroots youth and community work, utilising tried and tested principles of informal education within the local community and across Yorkshire. It also supports the homeless and those at risk of homelessness with a particular specialism in working with ex-offenders, through the provision of supported housing, information, advice and guidance and positive activities.

Inspire Arts Group is a group of individuals who have health problems (mental/physical) who meet at various locations and use the arts in their pathway of "recovery" and prevention of relapse and social exclusion.

Inspiring Community CIC works with young people aged 13-19 offering a wide range of activities from running a youth club to accredited programmes, meeting the needs of young people in the Wakefield District.

Jamia Masjid Swafia is a mosque providing facilities for five daily and other congregational prayers for local Muslims. It provides Islamic classes for children; facilities for funeral prayers and for the family and friends to gather when somebody has passed away; hosts visits by non-Muslims; and collects and distributes charity from Muslims.

KOOL Community Store prevents food going to landfill. They make it available to those that want it on a 'Pay what you can' basis. They 'sell' to anyone for just a donation, whether they're unemployed or employed. Food goes in tummies not the trash.

Kidz Aware provides advice, advocacy, signposting and training support to disabled children/adults and their families. Kidz Aware also provides educational programmes to young people's settings around bullying, racism, discrimination and disability awareness.

The charitable objects of the Kingsland School Fund are to advance the education of the pupils at Kingsland Primary School by providing or assisting in the provision of educational, recreational and other charitable facilities.

Kinship is the leading kinship care charity in England and Wales. They are here for all kinship carers – the grandparents and siblings, the aunts, uncles, and family friends who step up to raise children when their parents can’t.

The Centre offers a range of activities including, adult education courses, a community cafe, an Ofsted registered nursery,community transport scheme, a Beauty and Hairdressing training Salon and excellent facilities for meetings and conferences.

Here at  Kirklees, Calderdale and Wakefield Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre, we provide  support for people who have experienced rape, sexual or domestic violence, over the ages of 13, living in Kirklees, Calderdale, or Wakefield.

Knottingley Angels is a cheer dance group accepting members from the ages of 5-25. It aims to provide young people with rare opportunities and keep them fit and healthy and off the streets.

Knottingley Foodbank is a charity (No 1163711) and part of the Trussell Trust network of foodbanks. Run by volunteers it provides free food to clients experiencing food poverty. All food is donated and clients are referred by referrers working within the community using a voucher system. It covers Knottingley and surrounding area, extending to Hemsworth and Castleford.

LADS  aims to provide a proactive approach to tackling social issues, mental health  & wellbeing alongside practical interventions for men and boys of all  ages. The LADS project is a long-term initiative for West Yorkshire, set up  with Men and Boys at its heart with a focus on ethnic minority communities  including faith communities, marginalised communities, intersectionality,  socially and economically disadvantaged communities. We are here to offer  alternatives, and our focus is on ‘prevention and intervention’ at the heart  of the community. The project is a co-production and co-design model of  service delivery.

Laila Milly Foundation provides day respite care for families of children under 5 with severe and complex health needs and life limiting conditions.

Learnest  CIC is a trans-led LGBTQ+ social enterprise. They support commercial clients  to build more inclusive workplaces and invest profits into programmes  supporting LGBTQ+ people to thrive. Learnest host Our House - the LGBTQ+  centre for Wakefield - delivering workshops, a community cafe, retail space,  co-working and community groups to the local LGBTQ+ community.  The official launch of the space will be in  early 2023, but they are running open days, consultation events and events to  raise money for the space from August 2022. www.learnest.co.uk

Leeds  Credit Union is part of White Rose Credit Union following the merge in June  2014. The Credit Union is a 'mutual' meaning and it is owned by all its  members for the benefit of members alone. It is a community focused  organisation with 36,000 members, approximately 7,000 being in the Wakefield  district and one of the largest in the UK. The Credit Union gives its members  access to competitive savings plans and affordable loans at a fair rate of  interest.

Leeds  GATE are a vibrant and brave community members organisation, working with  Gypsies and Travellers across West Yorkshire. Throughout the last 19 years of  operation, they have demonstrated an award-winning track record of community  activism, social action and member-led innovation. Their main offices and  community centre is based in Leeds and they have outreach bases; including  the site office at the Heath Common Caravan site in Wakefield. The site has  38 plots/families.    

Leeds GATE’s aim is to improve quality of life for Gypsies and Travellers  through improving access to homes, health, education, employment, and  inclusion in society. Ultimately, their vision is a world in which all  Gypsies and Travellers have the opportunity to thrive and make choices as  equal, valued and respected members of society.

Leeds  Involving People represents the independent voice of people through the  promotion of effective involvement. It involves the community in the  development of health and social care services by ensuring their opinions and  concerns are at the centre of decision making processes.    

It does this by promoting best practice in involvement and by ensuring it  uses methods that are appropriate, accessible and responsive to the needs of  individuals and communities. It also supports individuals and organisations  to become 'involvement ready' so they can work in partnership with public  bodies to shape, improve and co-design services.

LSLCS is  a nationally recognised survivor-led organisation.  We provide out of hours services to people  in acute mental health crisis, who may otherwise end up in psychiatric  services, A&E, or other crisis and emergency provision.

Livability  York House, Ossett is a residential care home for 20 adults with physical and  intellectual disabilities. Livability strives to transform how people  with disabilities connect with their communities, promotinginclusion  and wellbeing. They combine enabling support with a vibrant home life and  maximise opportunities for residents to enjoy a full and independent life.  Livability provides modern care services, embracing new and assisted  technology and adaptations.What makes life livable is the sum of many things: from support to signposting; mobility to freedom; education to  employment; and friendship to community.

Lock Lane RL and Sports Centre is a community sports centre with separate ladies and gents fitness facilities, sports hall and it is the home of Lock Lane Rugby Club fielding teams from under 7 up to adult.

Lock Lane Residents Group has a maypole and dance group, a craft night for children, and bingo night for all residents. We have a wildlife garden and also run a shared community garden with Wakefield Council in the Lock Lane area of Castleford. We try to improve the environment for all residents.

LonGBoat Wakefield is a new community group set up to nurture, encourage and arrange social activities within the LGBT+ community, providing support within performing and creative arts. Culminating in an annual celebration concert of all inclusive talents.

Low Ackworth Community Association runs Low Ackworth Community Centre. The centre provides a facility for residents, local or otherwise to use for private and social events, functions and activities, embracing all age groups.

Luv2meetU  is a friendship and dating agency for people with a learning disability who  are 18 and over. It is run by and for people with learning disabilities.The board of directors is made up of service users. Luv2meetU is a subsidiary  company of the charity Hft.

MHA Wakefield Communities provides services and support to help older people lead independent, active and fulfilled lives.

MJ Languages - Polish Community Centre CIC's aim is mainly to provide assistance and support to people with language barrier in Polish and other Eastern European communities in Wakefield District. It offers: translation and interpreting services (English to Polish and Polish to English), English and Polish language workshop, Polish Saturday School (for children) and advice on living and working in the UK.

MK Choices CIC is a Community Interest Company aiming to reduce social inequality. It sells household appliances, furniture, sofas and baby items and offers interest free finance on its goods. The finance is open to everyone, whether employed, self-employed, retired or on benefits. MK Choices CIC doesn't carry out credit checks, it just ensures it is affordable.

MY (Mid Yorkshire) Breast Cancer Support Group provide a free,confidential service for primary/secondary breast cancer patients, including holistic therapies, exercise classes, and drop ins. The group provides a safe and understanding space where people facing similar experiences can share their feelings. This emotional support can help reduce feelings of isolation,anxiety, and depression, promoting a sense of belonging and emotional well-being within the community.

Made in Heaven Children's Trust is a charity for disabled children in Africa, we provide education, support in medical care, training and general donations to disabled charities in Africa.

The UK’s  leading end of life charity, Marie Curie is here to support everyone in the  UK through all aspects of dying, death and bereavement – and to fight for a  society where everyone gets to have the best experience possible at the end  of their lives. Marie Curie Nurses, Hospices and Support Line have been here  day and night, seven days a week, throughout the pandemic, providing  frontline care and supporting the NHS.

Memory Action Group is a peer support group for people living with dementia and their carers - supported by Admiral Nurses.

Mencap is a leading charity for individuals with a learning disability, supporting  adults into paid employment in the Wakefield District.

Mind Peace is a mental health hub that provides complementary treatments for  people in need, including massage and forest bathing. They are just starting  to roll out their programmes and have worked with another member. They are  looking at holding a group for women who have mental health issues after  cancer near Flushdyke.

MindCare Foundation was started for the purpose of helping to create awareness of mental health issues in Wakefield and in Kenya. We would like to ease social isolation and improve integration. We also want to combat the stigma of mental health stigma in the community as well as opening dialogue and openness.

Muziki Community Music deliver music sessions for parents/babies/toddlers and adults with learning difficulties. They also run a Musical Road Safety Awareness Workshop for children aged 4-7 and 8-11 years.

NLY Community Sport Ltd run sporting activities for adults and children with disabilities and learning  difficulties. In Wakefield, sessions are held at Crofton Community Centre and Pontefract Collieries.

NSPCC work directly with children and families across the UK and give support to  thousands of adults and young people in need through the NSPCC helpline and  Childline.They work with schools in Wakefield District through their Speak  Out Stay Safe programme, teaching children about abuse and providing free  resources for schools.

National Youth Advocacy Service (NYAS) is a UK charity providing socio-legal services.  It offers information, advice, advocacy and legal representation to children,  young people and vulnerable adults through a network of dedicated paid  workers and volunteers throughout England and Wales.

New Life Pre-School and Nursery is a registered daycare setting within New Life Christian Centre. It cares and educates babies and young children from 0-4+ and up to 8 years in the school holidays. Its opening times are Monday to Friday 7.30am to 6pm all year round.

Normanton Community Consortium is a voluntary and community organisation working within the local community to create a new complex that will be inclusive to all, based around sport, fitness, community, rehabilitation and education.

Normanton Community Kitchen was established in July 2022 to ensure local residents can  feed themselves and no-one goes hungry. They run a food bank and street  kitchen once a week providing free nutritious meals to anyone that needs  them. They use the opportunity to refer people to other services within the  community.

Normanton Knightingale Cheerleaders go around Yorkshire galas, nursing homes and school galas performing and entertaining the general public.

Normanton Musical Theatre Society is a local community group providing low cost access to live theatre, both performance opportunities and audience, to the people of Wakefield, Normanton and the 5 towns region. Its members range from 5 to 85 and have differing social, mental and physical needs.

North and West Yorkshire Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus provides  ongoing local support for children and adults with Spina Bifida and/or hydrocephalus and their families and carers.

Northern  College, the only adult residential college in the North, supports adults to  re-enter education to progress, gain employment or make a career change  through immersive residential learning and wrap-around support. They are a  college designed only for adults, offering a welcome and inclusive  environment. Residential accommodation provides students with the opportunity to focus  on their studies and receive wrap-around support to achieve their goals. The college also offers flexible residential and non-residential study on  weekends, evenings or during the week, alongside on-campus study blended with  online independent study at home.

The  National Trust is a conservation charity looking after special places, forever, for everyone. Nostell comprises of a country house estate with a  Grade II listed parkland, historic gardens, a Grade I listed building and a nationally significant collection of paintings and furniture.

Open Arms 5 Towns Service User Led Drop In is a drop in for people with mental health issues offering peer support.

Open Country is a registered charity that seeks to enable people with disabilities  to access the countryside. It offers a wide range of countryside activities  and information and runs the 'Wild about Wakefield' project. The project aims  to work with people with any disability across Wakefield enabling them to  access the outdoors through a suite of different activities including: a  seasonal evening tandem club, a weekday working group around the district at  local nature reserves and parks with tasks including pond creation, tree  planting and dry stone walling, and weekend outings that will go a little bit  further out of the area to see country houses and try new adventure sports.

The Osgoldcross Forum provides a practical support network for rural and urban  parishes and communities. It enables communities to share resources, services  and ideas which in turn brings a more diverse creative and dynamic approach  to providing services. This include providing free open access youth  provision and detached youth work in Knottingley, Ferrybridge, Brotherton, Byram, Fairburn, Kirk Smeaton, Hensall, Eggborough and Kellington. They have  also previously run community transport projects and a luncheon club.

We are a local community group committed to the care and protection of the physical environment of Ossett and the promotion of civic pride.

To demonstrate Ossett Town Centre as a centre for retail, residential, commercial, cultural, entertainment, tourism and leisure activities thereby ensuring its vitality, visibility, expansion and improvement, as an aid to sustainable regeneration.

The community centre is located at the heart of Ossett. It is governed by charity trustees and has been established since 1950, with full-time and part-time staff and volunteers. Its purpose is to provide a focal point for the local community to meet and take part in social, educational, leisure and recreational activities and opportunities. The centre is hired to over 30 groups weekly and monthly, equating to an average of 250 users per day. Outdoor Action for Kids is an unincorporated organisation providing outdoor activities for young people in a woodland or school setting.

PEER Support Yorkshire is a not for profit organisation providing counselling and psychotherapy for children and young people aged 2-24 who are victims of trauma and abuse or have attachment issues. It uses child and adolescent trained therapists only. PEER Support Yorkshire offers education around: trauma and mental health; the brain, body and trauma; the adolescent brain; and mindfulness based education and techniques for organisations, professionals and clients.

Pact Futures works with offenders and their families to provide support services  in a number of Criminal Justice settings.

Parents of Unique Children work to support parents who have children with additional  needs. They identify activities/trips for families with children who have  additional needs. There is a membership fee for POUCH.

Park Dale Tenants and Residents Association serves a community of approximately 100 houses. Its goal is to foster a greater community spirit by delivering regular weekly groups and events throughout the year.

Pease Park Activity Team provides free activities, sports and crafts for children local to Pease Park in Pontefract.

Pen2Print is a community, not for profit social enterprise providing a publishing/printing service. Pen2Print's clients are local authors, sports and social clubs, community organisations and independent small businesses. Their services, which include book publishing, book printing, book marketing and perfect book binding, cover Yorkshire, Nottingham, Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Bradford and Liverpool.

Penderels Trust is a not-for-profit organisation that provides advice and guidance for  people with disabilities living independently. We offer full support services  for people receiving a direct payment, personal budget or personal health  budget. We can help you with recruiting and managing your own care staff,  payroll, managing your finances and support planning and brokerage. We have a  local team of experienced independent living advisers based in Wakefield who  are happy to have a chat with you if you need more information.

Pennine Camphill Community is a specialist college (residential and non residential) for students with learning disabilities. The college provides an Aspirational Programme of learning with qualifications in Skills for Working and Life. Learning is through practical activity following personal goals and targets and a person centred approach.

Penny Appeal was set up in 2009 to provide poverty relief across Asia, the Middle  East, and Africa by offering water solutions, organising mass feedings,  supporting orphan care and providing emergency food and medical aid.    Since then it has transformed lives and empowered communities around the  world, helping to break the poverty cycle and build brighter futures.    Penny Appeal's work and its teams have grown considerably in the past few  years, allowing it to launch many new campaigns and work in even more  countries, including the UK.

Pluss is an award winning Social Enterprise that supports thousands of people with  disabilities and other disadvantages move into employment each year.

Pomfret Woodland Community Nursery CIC is a community led nursery offering childcare and education in the south ward of Pontefract. The nursery offers day care and government funded nursery education places, and also works in close partnership with the local children's centre and other agencies. The nursery was established by parents, staff and the community when the existing provider, the local council, recommended closure in 2011/2012. The group formed a community interest company and the nursery was transferred into their management in April 2013. The nursery is managed by a small board of directors covering all stakeholders.

Established in 1969, Pontefract Civic Society is a registered charity promoting and supporting the well-being of Pontefract in all its aspects. It is a modern movement which aims to: be an informed and constructive voice on civic issues; promote the best design in all new development; champion the conservation of Pontefract's heritage and character; and initiate practical projects which engage businesses, the community and voluntary groups.

Pontefract Family Centre offers day and evening opportunities and activities for adults with learning disabilities. It is a registered charity and has been since the late 1980s. It organises trips, residential holidays, as well as social events and centre based activities such as drama, life skills, arts and crafts, dance and sports.

Pontefract Foodbank is a voluntary organisation affiliated to the Trussell Trust, supplying food parcels to households in food crisis.

Portobello Community Forum meets the needs of the residents of Portobello in Wakefield by the provision of assistance, services and facilities.

Portobello Community Craft and Photography Group meet every Tuesday at Portobello Community Centre from 12.30pm to 2.30pm. There is a charge of £2 per session, which includes refreshments. Attendees participate and share ideas and skills in craft/art and photography. The Group provides a weekly supportive social opportunity/informal learning facility and includes some planned workshops and participation in local events. The Group provides open and equal opportunities for all 18 years and over.

Proper Job Theatre Company produce high quality theatre, workshop and outreach work.  It is passionate about working with disadvantaged people, providing them with  the skills to set, work towards and achieve life goals. Its main delivery  programme is the award winning LAB Project, a confidence building course for  unemployed adults with severe barriers to learning.

RSPCA Leeds, Wakefield & District Branch is a local branch of the RSPCA. It rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes local animal victims of cruelty and neglect.

Rainbow  Baby Bank is a non-profit organisation supporting families and expectant  mothers. It distributes baby equipment, basic essentials and pre-loved clothes ranging from new-born to 2 years. It is available by either self or  professional referrals.

Re-engage exists to bring older people together into social groups at a time in their  lives when their social circles are diminishing. This year, 8,500 older  guests were part of over 900 groups across the UK, supported by 14,000  volunteers. In response to the COVID-19 crisis Re-engage has suspended its  regular social gatherings and has created a new service for older people  called call companions.

Real Life Options was first established in 1992 to support and empower people with learning disabilities and autism to have more choice and greater control over their lives. Over the last three decades, they have grown to become a national provider of social support and care while staying true to their core ethos.

Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Chapel of Light is a Pentecostal church in Pontefract. RCCG meets every Sunday at Pontefract Squash and Badminton Club.

Reflections Housing Association Limited provides support and accommodation to homeless vulnerable adults.

The Refugee Council works with refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK. It  offers practical support and advice throughout their journey in the UK. It  has been helping refugees for more than 60 years and has a thorough  understanding of the difficulties facing people arriving in the UK, having  fled war, rape, torture and with unimaginable stories to tell. Many refugees  have lost everything and their lives will never return to normal. The Refugee  Council offers a helping hand to support and empower them to rebuild their  lives.

Restorative  Justice West Yorkshire are a CIC that provide an opportunity for harm to be  repaired between a victim and an offender, where a crime has been committed.  RJWY work closely with organisations within the Wakefield District, including  Victim Support and Wakefield Probation.They also deliver courses to people  in Wakefield who have been issued with a conditional caution for a hate crime  or a violent crime.

Restorative  Solutions CIC is committed to supporting frontline practitioners working in  the community and the public sector by creating and managing innovative  programmes, delivering training and services to enable the use of restorative  practice. Richmond  Fellowship - Wakefield Mental Health Community Based Support Service provides  support to individuals aged 18 and over with mild to moderate mental ill  health problems. Services offered: Drop In sessions providing information,  advice and guidance; A tailored 12 week support programme providing 1-2-1  support; Peer Support Service aiming to reduce social isolation and increase  social inclusion through a range of structured group activities; Volunteering  opportunities for those with lived mental ill health experience.

Richmond House Social Care Services, also known as Richmond House, is a non-profit organisation, CQC registered and a Community Interest Company (C.I.C.) number 11154305, and runs for the benefit of the community. It aims to enable children and young people with disability to access a range of Short Breaks and care and support services designed to assist and promote independence. The services are available to provide daycare and overnight breaks at their own homes between the age of 0 and 25 years.

The River Stewardship Company is a social enterprise providing effective  waterways management in a way which involves stakeholders, local communities  and volunteers with their local waterways.    Its dedicated, commercial contracting team delivers invasive species and  vegetation management, habitat creation, access works and site furniture  installation and improvements. Clients include the Environment Agency,  Sheffield City Council, Calderdale MBC, Sheffield Forgemasters, Amey, British  Land and Meadowhall. It also delivers bespoke community engagement programmes designed to  involve people with their local waterways. These can comprise of  environmental education, volunteer days, guided walks, recreational  activities and other events.

Rooks Nest Pre-school is a charitable childcare setting offering care and education for 2-5 year olds between the hours of 8.30am - 3.30pm. It was inspected in May 2016 and gained a judgement of 'OUTSTANDING' for the second consecutive time. It works closely with Rooks Nest Academy to provide wraparound care.

Rosalie Ryrie Foundation offers intervention and prevention for families (victims, perpetrators and children) who have experienced domestic abuse. The Foundation also offers awareness training to agencies on the effects of abuse on children and families.

Royal  Voluntary Service is a registered charity and volunteer organisation that  enriches the lives of older people and their families in the home, hospital  or in the community. We support older people by giving time and practical  help to help them get the best from life. Our volunteers – ordinary men and  women of all ages and ethnicities – love spending time with the older  people. Through them, we want to help create a society where everyone feels  valued and involved whatever their age.

Rycroft Leisure is a charitable organisation which consists of a sports and youth centre that hosts a variety of local sports clubs and community groups such as local sports teams, Scouts, Darby and Joan and other community groups. It has a gym, sports hall and sports bar that is available to rent or socialise in. It also has a youth centre that delivers affordable positive activities to young people aged 8-25 years of age.

SEE  Ahead is a specialist business support for social enterprises.The core  business is with individuals and groups who want to set up social enterprises  and also with established social enterprises who want to improve social,  economic and environmental objectives whilst achieving financial  sustainability. It provides both 1 to 1 support and runs training workshops  on a variety of social enterprise topics.

SESKU Academy exists to develop the South East district of Wakefield through offering employment, training, social and sporting opportunities to young people and unemployed people.

The group meets every second Wednesday of each month from 6pm to 8pm to:Provide support, companionship, education, help and information for people living with diabetes.Promote awareness, and understanding, of diabetes and Diabetes UK to the public in general.Share experiences of living with diabetes, which has often proven to be beneficial.Raise funds to help diabetics in the local area.Raise funds to contribute towards the Diabetes UK Research fund. Everyone is welcome to attend.

SPINE is a charity supporting all of the needs of Spinal Cord Injured people in Yorkshire. This includes advocacy, advice, peer support, wheelchair sport/arts/crafts, and grant giving.

SURE Mums runs mums and toddler groups, providing networking to support local mums/carers in Wakefield District and gives children the best start in life. It also provides local services as required and holds SUREkidz discos on an ad-hoc basis. The SURE brand - Supporting, Uniting, Relationships for Everyone.

Safer Lives provides emotional support and therapeutic interventions to men under  investigation for committing sexual offences. It also provides help and  guidance to their families. Suicide rates for this demographic is high and  whilst Safer Lives never tries to justify their behaviours it does help  people to change their behaviours and problematic thoughts.

Samaritans provides confidential emotional support by telephone, email, text and face to face at its Wakefield branch. Samaritans mission is to alleviate emotional distress and reduce the incidence of suicidal feelings and suicidal behaviour. It also works in partnership with other organisations to reach high risk groups, influence public policy and to raise awareness of the challenges of reducing suicide.

Sandal Singers is a local community choir made up of people who come together to sing in friendship with the aim of singing at events and in competitions as it feels fit.

Sapphire Supremes is a majorette dance troupe based in Stanley, Wakefield. It has around 25 members aged between 2-21.

Second Chance Headway Centre provides a therapy led day service for adults who are living with acquired or traumatic brain injury. The charity's objectives are to relieve and rehabilitate individuals living in or near Yorkshire and the Humber who have sustained an acquired brain injury likely to cause significant disability, particularly but not exclusively by: providing, assisting and promoting facilities for the provision of their support, enablement, education, training and welfare, advising and supporting carers, families and friends of such individuals.

Senior Citizens Support Group works to provide events and activities with the aim of preventing loneliness and isolation for the over 60s in Wakefield.

Serenity Craft Lodge's purpose is to hold daily arts and crafts sessions for individuals with learning disabilities in Wakefield, with the intention of reaching out to other socially isolated groups in the future.

Shannon Trust help people in HMP New Hall and prisons in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland to learn to read, so that they can build a more positive future for themselves and their families.

Singing 4 Pleasure runs a choir in Airedale, Castleford. The aims of the group are: to provide singing opportunities that engage with and are accessible to people within the community who are suffering pulmonary illnesses/mental health; to support partnership working with NHS services/GP practices; to enable people to feel more confident, happier and better able to cope with their problems; and to enable people to feel less isolated more connected and involved in their community.

The Smile For Miles group fundraise all year round to support local families struggling with the cost of living crisis. Their aim is to improve the lives of local children.

Snydale RDA offers riding and stable management and therapy sessions to adults and children who can benefit from attending (including people with disabilities, Autism, mental health and emotional problems). Sessions run on a Tuesday and Thursday evening. Snydale RDA is a charity run by volunteers. It provides a safe and stimulating environment and aims to meet individual needs and goals.

Solace  is a charity which provides psychotherapy, complementary therapies and  advocacy support to the survivors of persecution and exile living in the  Yorkshire and Humber region, many of whom have been traumatised by torture,  rape, the death or disappearance of loved ones and often combinations of all  of these and other atrocities.

We are a  group of Christians who worship in ex-mining village community of Havercroft,  in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. Aiming to reach the community of Havercroft by  serving them through our Sunday Services at 11am and through our projects  through the week from Coffee shop to Charity shop, Drop in Playgroups for  Parents and Toddlers from Mondays through Thursdays, also running Luncheons  on the first Friday of every month, Scouts on Wednesday evenings at 6pm,  Counsellor Surgeries 3rd Wednesdays of every month between 10-12noon, Parish  Council meetings, a running Food bank and polling station.

Sounds of Broadway run weekly sessions in which people sing together and have fun  doing so. This has the added benefits of improving both the physical health  of participants, by encouraging better breathing techniques, and improving  their mental health through the benefits of group singing and by encouraging  positive social interaction.

Soup4em is a voluntary community group with no income, it relies on donated food and items required by those most in need; Volunteers cook, service and distribute the donated items, helping those in distress. All those served are dealing with having minimum income and debt, mental heath issues, substance misuse, lack of housing or other barriers to finding employment.

South Elmsall Community Facilities is based within South Elmsall and is a Charitable organisation which offers numerous services from the Westfield Centre.

South Kirkby Youth Community Association is a youth club based on the Holmsley Estate.

South Ossett Baptist Church is a small friendly church that provides Christian fellowship and worship. The church has a community cafe, predominantly for new mums/families.

South Wakefield Villages Community Markets are organising seasonal markets for local community based traders to promote themselves and sell their produce, whilst providing a community gathering opportunity for the local residents. They promote the local Village Institute Hall and provide access to information on local services, businesses, and community groups for those who may not have access to social media and the internet.

South Yorkshire Asbestos Victims Support Group provides help, advice, information  and support to people affected by asbestos-related diseases.

South Yorkshire Housing Association is a housing association that operates  throughout South Yorkshire, Derbyshire and West Yorkshire.     It provides housing and support to a wide range of people and specialises  in supporting older people, people with mental health issues and people  facing homelessness.

Community Media and well-being

Spectrum Community Health CIC provides advice, care and treatment through a range of  health and wellbeing services. It uses its flexibility as a social enterprise  to be responsive to the needs of local communities, extending beyond  traditional healthcare boundaries to deliver care that is personalised,  evolving and effective.

Spectrum People promotes social inclusion. It works with people who are excluded from society as a result of substance abuse or dependency, unemployment, financial hardship, homelessness, disability or previous criminal convictions. It provides activities and opportunities, general support and raises public awareness of the issues affecting such people.

Springs Life Resource Centre is a Christian Fellowship who extends its facilities to the wider community by running community activities and groups from its centre in Hemsworth.

St Catherine's Church Centre is a vibrant, open and inclusive church and community centre in the heart of Wakefield. St Catherine's is a diverse community, with a rich life of worship, prayer and community engagement. Named Wakefield's Charity of the Year in 2015, its ministry is rooted in the care of the vulnerable and disadvantaged, and its purpose built community centre provides a range of services including the Nourishment Café, Elderly Day Care Centre, Wakefield's largest emergency food bank, West Yorkshire's first recovery cafe for sufferers of mental illness, weekly homeless provision, Holiday Hunger programme, conference/meeting facilities for local community groups and businesses and other activities designed to help alleviate poverty and promote social justice.

St George's runs a range of services including a Community Learning and Employability, Wellbeing, Early Years and a Young Peoples Service's. Our main base is in Lupset at St George's Community Centre, however three of our Childcare setting are based in other community venues in Lupset, Eastmoor and Agbrigg. The Community Centre houses a Café, Walk in Wardrobe, foodbank, allotment and in on of a number of Help at the Hub venues across the distinct. We also have a range of meeting rooms for hire and office space

St Giles Trust aims to break the cycle of disadvantage, crime and prison, to create  safer communities by supporting people to change their lives. It currently  works with 15,000 people a year in prisons and communities across the UK, and  has particular expertise in working with those who face the most complex  barriers to making progress. There are 4 pillars around which St Giles Trust's work is centred: Somewhere to live; Something to work for; Positive  relations; Support from someone who has been there.

St Giles' Church is an Anglican parish church that organises and supports projects to benefit the local community.

St John's Church is the parish Church for the St John's area of Wakefield. It is a place of worship and also has a primary school in the area.

St Luke's is a church with several different community projects including a parent and toddler group, preschool, nursery, youth group, befriending programme plus a community cafe.

Adult and Community Education Centre

St Peter's Church is at the heart of the community of Stanley. As well as all the usual church services, it has a community café, senior citizens' lunch group, film club, knit and natter group, community choir and much more!

St John Ambulance aims to support communities to be more resilient by teaching people  lifesaving skills and knowledge to help their families and people around  them. They provide First Aid training in the workplace and free First Aid  Awareness sessions with their Community Advocate programme.

Standbridge Lane Community Development Trust runs a community centre in the Kettlethorpe area of Wakefield, West Yorkshire. It has been open and operating since April 2014 developing the first community led asset transfer from Wakefield Council. The Trust works to provide services and support to the people of Kettlethorpe and beyond. The Trust operate and run the Standbridge Community Centre, which is a hub for local services and support. The Community Centre is owned by Wakefield Council and the Trust has a 25 year lease on the property. The Trust's main objectives are to provide a community facility which is safe, secure and accommodating to all its service users. It aims to build the centre into a sustainable enterprise which can focus on meeting the local community's needs.

Star Bereavement Support Service supports children, young people and their families through bereavement.

The Wakefield Stroke Support Service is a visiting service that provides  information, advice and support to people who have had a stroke, their  families and carers. It works with the stroke survivors to agree realistic  goals and supports the individual to achieve them. It runs a variety of  groups such as the Aphasia Cafe, social evenings and Stroke Support Group.

Friends of the Wakefield Music Education Hub supporting and extending opportunities for children and young people to learn and perform music, through fundraising, volunteering and championing the services locally.

Survivors  West Yorkshire (SWY) and its male-focused Place online  trauma-informed counselling service is survivor-led and focused. It supports  male survivors of childhood sexual abuse and adult rape. It also delivers  training and awareness projects to enable improved service provision. It has  operated since 2000.

TEMM foundation works to improve mental health of diaspora community in Wakefield by providing cultural support and educational programmes to reduce family  dysfunction. Their vision is for diaspora families to stay as one unit and  work through any issues effectively when they arise.

The Amaheree Society aim to organise social and enjoyable activities for members and their families, such as sewing, cooking lessons, Tie and Dye or Batik Tie-Dye, knitting. They will also organise cultural events where they teach young people and children about their cultures. They aim to provide Maths and English classes, and homework classes for children. Amaheree will also create awareness about health issues, such as the risk of undergoing FGM.

The Art House provides studios and programmes offering time, space and support for artists and associates to develop their creative, critical practice and progress their professional careers.

The Avalon Group - West Yorkshire provides support to adults with a disability as  well as people with dementia and their carers. Support is provided in  people's own homes, the community or dedicated houses.

The Bag Fairies provide clothing, household textiles, kitchenware, small electricals, toiletries, crockery and cutlery to vulnerable families and individuals regardless of circumstances and without need for a referral from an official body.

The Ben Manning Music Foundation provides access to music education for kids from families with lack of means.

The Brig, also known as Altofts Community and Sports Foundation Limited, is a registered charity with the aim of promoting and facilitating health, social and community based opportunities for all residents in the wider Altofts area.

The CROSS Project is a small Christian charity working in secondary schools in the Wakefield area. It supports schools in many areas, including lessons (RE/RSE/PHSE Drama etc), clubs (after school, or lunch clubs), confidence building groups (separately for girls and boys), assemblies, mentoring, setting up Prayer Spaces and support with Year 7 induction.

The Clothing Bank Wakefield collect preloved clothing and make up 7 days’ worth of clothing, including new underwear, pyjamas, coats, and shoes, to anyone who is struggling to clothe themselves after everyday expenses.

The Coalfields Regeneration Trust is a regeneration charity and social enterprise working for the benefit of coalfield communities.

A genuine community choir that welcomes every member of the community. The Community Choir Wakefield do not hold auditions or require people top read music, open to everyone irrespective of age. Their aim is the eradication loneliness and social isolation in all its formats.

We  design and deliver wellbeing activities through creative workshops, online  courses and coaching. We focus on music for wellbeing, journaling for self-care, and therapeutic art.

The Elizabeth Love Will Trust is caring for the collection of local artefacts acquired by the late Elizabeth and Joe Love; along with what was their home, the former Barbican or Main Guard of Pontefract Castle.

The Exodus Project work with children and young people, many from the most disadvantaged communities. Their aim is to divert them from destructive lifestyles, and they do this by working in partnership with families and others within the communities.

The Exodus Project run mid-week activity clubs for 8-11's and are called Kidz Klub. They also deliver weekend "camps", which combine great fun and educational activities, at their own activity centre known as Jenny's Field. The children and young people who attend the mid-week clubs with the aim of building trusting relationships and growing aspirations.  

The Friends of Ossett Library is a community organisation founded to promote the use of Ossett Library. It organises events and raises money to provide facilities at the library that would not otherwise be provided. It also runs the 'Ossett and Gawthorpe Community Archive' (mainly photographic).

The Hepworth Wakefield is Yorkshire's inspiring new art gallery, celebrating the area's unique artistic legacy and exploring the work of major contemporary artists. Designed by David Chipperfield Architects, our ten superb gallery spaces make this one of the UK's largest purpose-built galleries outside London.

The Lippy People Charitable Trust's mission is to support people who are socially  and economically disadvantaged to develop their capacity and skills to  overcome their inequalities through films and digital storytelling, coaching, mentoring and enterprise development.

The  Miscarriage AssociationThe  Miscarriage AssociationA registered charity offering support and information to anyone affected by miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy or molar pregnancy.

The Northern Fringe Gallery is an arts cooperative with membership age 55  upwards. It works on projects, organises exhibitions, holds workshops and has  cultural trips and events.

The Orchard Project helps local people create, restore and access orchards to enjoy and use for good in their own communities.

The Prince of Wales Hospice provides palliative care for adults from Pontefract, Castleford and the Five Towns area with their life-limiting illness. It helps people live as well as possible with their illness and provides care at the end of life.

The  Prince's Trust supports 16 to 30 year-olds who are not in education, employment or training.    

The Trust's programmes give vulnerable young people the practical and  financial support needed to stabilise their lives, helping develop  self-esteem and skills for work.    

The Enterprise programme is running in the Wakefield area, helping  unemployed young people explore self-employment and whether setting up their  own business is right for them.

The S.M.a.S.H Society aims to help adults and young who have long term health  conditions or are carers for those with a long term health condition to  improve their self-management skills, maintain their health and continue to  make positive lifestyle choices.

The Well Church is an exciting, fresh expression of church in the Wakefield area. They are an Elim Pentecostal Church located in Wakefield and have reached out into the city for over 90 years. Their work includes providing warm spaces, free meals, social events and more.

Wakefield and District Health and Community Support hosts The Yorkshire Health Charity. It is a grant making organisation, giving funds to individuals, small groups and communities which provide activities and services that support the health of disadvantaged people. These typically include sensory and physical impairment, learning disability and autism, mental health, dementia and older people, refugees and asylum seekers and people from various ethnic backgrounds.

The  Youth Association provides a wide range of youth opportunities, from fun days  and activities to advice, guidance, training and learning lifelong skills. Young people have an important voice in the association, as do volunteers,  workers and staff.

TheRockinR is a charitable incorporated organisation set up for the public benefit to relieve the needs of children and young persons diagnosed with a DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma), their families/carers by: a) the provision of interactive video gaming equipment to children and young persons diagnosed with DIPG and the provision of mobile gaming equipment for young persons in hospital who are immobile for certain periods of time; b) raising awareness of DIPG to the public, media, legislators and health care professionals through the provision of advice and information; c) making donations of financial assistance to charities established to support research into methods of diagnosis, treatment and management for DIPG.

Theatre Royal Wakefield's mission is to develop new creative opportunities and experiences both within the theatre building, throughout the wider community and on tour, encouraging high quality engagement across a broad sector of the Performing Arts. They have a programme of live theatre which is engaging and accessible to the local community. It  promotes and develops the use of creativity in local communities within  England by working with individuals, families, groups and other organisations  in a common effort to advance education, recreation, research, provide  facilities in the interests of social welfare, and widen opportunity for  social cohesion with the objective of improving the conditions of life for  the local community. It passionately believes that the Arts and in particular  learning music is of great benefit and importance to our physical and mental  health and well-being and should be able to be accessed pre-birth and  throughout our lives. Thinking Forward 4 Mental Health is a support group that helps people with mental health problems. It runs various activities, including arts and crafts, gardening, games afternoon, darts, bowls, dominoes, a Recovery Cafe on Thursdays and a singing group.

Thornes Millennium Green Trust provides a green space for informal recreation open to the general public. It provides opportunities for volunteers to enhance their health and wellbeing by participating in the general upkeep of the green space.

Tide is aUK wide involvement network of carers and former carers of people with  dementia (with a specific focus on Yorkshire and Humber). tide empowers  carers through its carer development programme to enable them to use their  lived experience and collective voice to bring about change by influencing  practice, policy and research at all levels.

Tiny Hands Baby Bank Yorkshire is a voluntary run organisation that distributes essential baby items to families in need.

Tiny Idea connects disengaged people of all ages with the natural world via craft.

Together Women Project supports women experiencing multiple needs, disadvantage and exclusion. Together Women Project helps women make positive changes by providing the support and advice they need. Its women only centres can help them deal with a range of issues.

Together for Mental Wellbeing - Wakefield Advocacy Together Hub provides Statutory  Advocacy across Wakefield. This includes IMCA, IMHA, Care Act and DoLs.

Established  in 1982,Touchstone is a health and wellbeing charity with the vision to  inspire communities and transform lives. Touchstone delivers a broad range of  support to people including mental health services, volunteering/peer  support, specialist BME services and community development.

Trans Wakefield is a social and support group for all trans people, including families and friends. It can provide: a safe and confidential space; experienced support workers who can meet in confidence; practical help with living in a new gender role, whether full time or part time; information and guidance on transgender issues; trans awareness workshops; trans confidence building workshops; and guidance on working with/employing trans people. Meetings are held in Rotherham, Leeds and Wakefield.

Trinity Mission is a Christian charity working from the Hope Centre. They are volunteer based and offer access to hot meals, food parcels, our clothing bank and help from their Support Co-Ordinator. They aim to help those in the wider community who may be in need of support and are marginalised or isolated. They work with other local agencies, such as Turning Point, to offer the best service we can. They embrace a compassionate and non-judgemental approach.

Turning  Lives Around - Sustain Wakefield is a multi-use support service that  intervenes to ensure people do not lose their homes and to prevent  homelessness among single people and families. It has a team of Support  Workers who provide housing related (floating) support to people  at risk of homelessness, to enable them to  maintain their tenancies.

Urban Dance Theory provides all forms of urban street dance to children from 4 years upwards. Its near future plan is to create an urban arts hub consisting of Parkour, dance studio, sprung dance floor. It has made public its desire that everyone who lives in Wakefield District will come inside at least once a year. Wakefield Cathedral tries to give priority to people who are needy or disadvantaged. It hopes to be a place of conversation for people of all faiths and none, and a cultural hub in the city centre.

Wakefield City Youth and Community Project is a voluntary group working with disadvantaged young people in Wakefield District supporting them with various activities.

Wakefield District City of Sanctuary takes pride in welcoming Asylum Seekers and Refugees to the City and District and offers them every opportunity to share and contribute in the life of Wakefield District's communities. Its aims are: To promote the inclusion and welfare of Refugees and Asylum Seekers, by encouraging Wakefield District to make a public commitment to becoming a place of welcome and safety by adopting the title City of Sanctuary. To encourage and support local communities and voluntary, community and faith organisations in welcoming and assisting Asylum Seekers and Refugees. To publicise and celebrate the contribution of Asylum Seekers and Refugees to their local communities, to society and culture. Most importantly to challenge hostility and discrimination against them.

Wakefield District Cycle Forum campaigns to improve infrastructure for cycling in the Wakefield District and organises events, and rides to promote cycling in the district.

Wakefield District Sight Aid are a local charity supporting people living with sight loss. They believe that people living with sight loss in our community should have access to the same opportunities and quality of life as fully sighted people. They offer practical services to people following diagnosis or deteriorating eyesight, and ongoing needs-based support. This includes home visiting and telephone advice. Their wider wellbeing services focus on helping people connect with each other, creating opportunities for socialising, friendship, and emotional support.

Wakefield Jazz at Wakefield Sports Club is a weekly club open to all, presenting the best in regional, national and occasionally international live modern and contemporary jazz on Fridays.

Wakefield Music Collective promotes live music through events, festivals and concerts. The events include brass band concerts, Clarence Park festival, and other concerts held at the Bandstand, Clarence Park in Wakefield. It also presents a four day Blues Festival in Wakefield city centre. It also has campaigned and raised funds to restore the Bandstand in Clarence Park.

Wakefield Neighbourhood Network is a network of individuals, community groups and local workers in and around the Lupset area of Wakefield. We share information, resources and work together on projects which help local residents to improve their health and wellbeing and improve the local area.

The organisation is the official Parent Carer Forum for Wakefield and works alongside NHS Wakefield CCG and Wakefield Council.

Wakefield Parkinson's Support Group helps and supports sufferers, carers and the  families of those living with Parkinson's disease.

Wakefield Pride strives to champion equality and diversity, with a specific focus on eradicating discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and marginalised communities. Our mission extends to fostering social inclusion and community cohesion. We organise the annual Pride event in the City Centre and curate smaller events throughout the year. By doing so, we contribute to heightening public awareness regarding the challenges and issues faced by the LGBT+ community in Wakefield and its five towns.

Wakefield Riding for the Disabled Association provide riding and horse care activities  to individuals and groups from the local community, schools and organisations who have physical & learning disabilities and also to people living with  mental health conditions, dementia or similar conditions.

Wakefield Rural Arthritis Care is a support group for people with arthritis, their carers and family. We provide a monthly meeting on the first Thursday of every month, when we provide speakers and instructors on a variety of subjects and leisure activities. We also organise outings and events.

Wakefield Sea Cadets is a uniformed youth organisation whose primary aim is to inspire young people aged 10-18 through nautical adventure and challenge to help give them a head start in life based on the traditions and skills of the Royal Navy. Its secondary aim is to provide facilities to support other community organisations and groups to improve the wider society of Wakefield for all.

Wakefield Talking Newspaper records and distributes the Wakefield Express each week to approximately 200 registered blind and partially-sighted people on both CD and audio tape. The service is completely free.

Wakefield Trinity Community Trust is the charitable arm of Wakefield Trinity RLFC. It uses the power of sport and other physical activities such as dance to engage with young people, especially, though not exclusively, those who are disadvantaged or deprived and encourage them towards more healthy, fulfilling and positive lifestyles.

Wakefield Visually Impaired Group was formed by people with sight problems as a self-help group. It offers facilities for meeting socially, which provides an informal and relaxed environment for people to swap notes on their experiences and problems.

Community sports and games club for football, cricket and badminton. The club is open  to all, but mainly attended by hospital staff, their families and friends. It  is run entirely by volunteers and is not formally associated with the  hospital.

Wakefield and District Down's Syndrome Support Group provides activities and events which enable families to have fun and develop friendships and, ultimately, to support each other. It aims to improve understanding and positive awareness of down's syndrome in the community through social media, training for families and schools.

Unlimited is an arts commissioning programme that aims to embed work by disabled artists within the UK and international cultural sectors, reach new audiences and shift perceptions of disabled people.

The Well Women Centre offers women-only services within the Wakefield District; a variety of counselling therapies, self-development and wellbeing groups and courses, support services for women with multiple and complex needs, complementary therapies, low cost and full cost options and support for young women.

West Yorkshire ADHD Support Group CIC support anyone affected by ADHD; this  includes adults and children with, or suspected of having ADHD, and also  their parents/carers and siblings. They do this over Facebook, Zoom sessions and face to face sessions.

West Yorkshire Community Accounting Service (WYCAS) supports charities, voluntary  organisations, community groups and social enterprises with managing their  finances more effectively and efficiently.

Willow Edge Residents Group is a community group aimed at improving the area for the residents, including improving safety on the roads, providing facilities for residents and holding events to build some community spirit.

Words for Wellbeing use the written word (poetry, fiction, song lyrics) in  innovative, creative and interactive ways to engage with people experiencing  mental health and well being issues, loneliness and isolation; accessing the  person beneath the diagnosis and helping them to improve their self- esteem, confidence and resilience.

Workers' Educational Association works with adults, particularly those with few or no  educational qualifications, to gain nationally recognised qualifications with  friendly support and encouragement.

Working for Walton is a group of like-minded Walton residents with an affinity for Walton, whose aim is to enthuse and inspire the people of Walton to celebrate the village by organising inclusive events for the benefit of all. Wrenthorpe Community Association runs community centres and organises social events for the village.

Formed in 1989, run by volunteers, Wrenthorpe Environmental Society's aims are to conserve and improve the environment of Wrenthorpe, by collaborating with other bodies to increase environmental awareness.

It may surprise you to know that the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity relies on the  generosity of individuals and organisations to help save lives across Yorkshire. In fact as a Charity it only receives help through secondment of  paramedics from the NHS, through Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust. To  keep both of Yorkshire's air ambulances in the air it needs to raise £12,000  per day. This is equivalent to £4.4 million per year. As a rapid response air emergency service the Charity serves a population of approximately 5  million people across 4 million acres. The Charity's two Air Ambulances  operate from The Nostell Priory Estate near Wakefield and RAF Topcliffe near  Thirsk, and together both Air Ambulances cover the whole of the region.

Yorkshire Cancer Community is a group of people who have been directly affected by  cancer and those working with or within cancer services. Its aim is to enable  the views and experiences of cancer patients, families and friends to be  heard and used to improve the quality of cancer care in the Yorkshire and  Humber area. It does this by working in a positive partnership with local  health care teams and other voluntary organisations.

The Yorkshire Dance Centre Trust is a charity which champions the value of dance  and its development in Yorkshire. We create opportunities for people of all  ages, backgrounds and abilities to see, make and take part in high quality dance.

Yorkshire Mediation Services (YMS) is a charity based in West Yorkshire working to  resolve conflict in the local community. The mediation we provide can range  from neighbour disputes, workplace disputes to restorative justice, often  working with complex and sensitive cases to bring these to a resolution. YMS  is an accredited OCN provider and delivers training in community and  workplace mediation as well as a range of short courses.

Yorkshire Speak Their Name have a continued ethos and purpose to support individuals  bereaved to suicide. They introduce art and crafting in a variety of  different ways to improve emotional and mental health, reduce social  isolation, bring together those struggling with complex grief in a non  judgmental platform.

Yorkshire Sport Foundation is a sport and physical activity charity with a vision to  create vibrant, healthy and prosperous communities through sport. Its role is  to connect, influence and provide sport and physical activity to make it an  everyday part of people's lives.

Yorkshire Visually Impaired Cricket Club provides the opportunity for blind/visually  impaired boys and girls of all ages and abilities to play cricket against teams from all over England.

Yorkshire's Brain Tumour Charity’s vision is clear and simple, to cure a devastating  disease that affects so many people. Whilst they are working to find a cure,  the charity will provide the best patient and family support network they can.

Yorkshire, Humberside and Lincolnshire Circles of Support and Accountability is a community response to sexual offending, working in partnership with criminal  justice agencies. Its mission is to reduce the risk of future sexual offences  by supporting individuals who have committed sexual offences previously, thus  keeping the community safe and creating no more victims.

Young Lives Consortium is a support organisation for voluntary and community organisations in the Wakefield District providing services for children, young people and families. We are a membership organisation run by member organisations; we have over 125 member organisations. iAspire2 CIC is actively involved in delivering educational sessions on crime and consequences in collaboration with HMP NOT-4-ME. These sessions are conducted in schools, youth clubs, and in partnership with Wakefield Council and Wakefield Trinity Foundation. The aim is to provide children with a comprehensive understanding of social boundaries, the law, and the repercussions of their actions.
